100% Dell India Employees Are Working From Home: Is This The New Normal For IT Sector?

IT behemoth Dell has declared that 100% of their employees in India are now working from home.

This way, Dell has become the first such IT company in India to implement work from home for their entire workforce.

Dell India: Entire Workforce Is Now Working From Home

During an interview, Alok Ohrie, president and managing director, Dell Technologies India informed that 100% of their employees in India are now working from home.

This is a unique achievement for an IT firm, since a lot of consideration needs to take place before implementing such large scale work from home model.

He said, “In India, our entire workforce is doing remote work with the required infrastructure in place, and we are fully prepared to support this flexible work environment.”

How Dell Managed This?

As per Alok, working from home is embedded deep into their DNA, and when Govt announced sudden lockdown, and enforced working from home model, then Dell was fully prepared.

Dell has the required infrastructure to implement work from home setup for all employees: monitoring tools, automation software, and network topology.

Alok said that several of their employees working from home are infact running “business-critical infrastructure needed for running hospital management systems, order management systems of retail businesses, and online businesses.”

In the interview, Alok also revealed that Dell has implemented tech products such as flexible payment solutions, remote working solutions like Unified Workspace, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and many more for smooth implementation of work from home for employees, and to ensure data security of their clients.

Is Work From Home The New Normal

TCS, India’s biggest IT services company has already announced that as per their 2025 vision, only 25% of their employees will be required to come to office.

This is a massive shift in the dynamics of IT business, as 20 year old business models are being shattered.

Besides HCL, Wipro, Infosys and other IT firms too are implementing work from home in a massive scale, both due to the need, and a change in their operational model.

It’s safe to say now that work from home is here to stay.
