Kia Motors Corporation had launched its third-generation Kia Carnival in India earlier this year. It has been on sale in South Korea since 2014.  It is a luxury segment MPV aimed at a segment to be a notch above the famed Toyota Innova.

The South-Korean manufacturer has decided to give the Kia Carnival a major makeover in the form of a generation change.

The next-generation Kia Carnival was revealed a few days ago, and it showcased a completely new vehicle compared to its sibling. The MY2021 Kia Sedona (next-gen Carnival) will soon be launched in a few international markets like South Korea and Europe.

The exterior design of the new model was completely revamped by making it look more like an SUV than an MPV.

The front of the vehicle has sleek headlamps underlined by LED DRLs. The front grille has vertical slats on it. The bumper has a faux skid-plate underneath with a silver finish. The side profile, especially in the bonnet line, is less tapered than before. Overall, the new model includes sharp features in its design.

The car is equipped with a shark-fin antenna on the top along with a pair of silver-finished roof-rails.

The rear portion of the new model also has sleek-looking single-piece band of an LED tail light and a faux skid plate on the rear bumper, with a silver-finish to give the car a premium look.

The rear sliding doors are electronically operated.

The interior hasn’t been officially unveiled yet. However the spy pictures show a complete redesign for the dashboard. The instrument console will be an all-digital unit, and will be joined to the touchscreen for the infotainment system. Just like the previous iteration, the new Carnival will be available in 7-, 8-, and 9-seater configurations.

The engine specifications of the MY2021 Kia Carnival also haven’t been revealed. The same 2.2-litre diesel engine from the India-spec Carnival is expected. This motor is also available on the Indian version. There would be other options as well, probably a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol motor and a 1.6-litre petrol/electric hybrid powertrain.

Here, we have some on-road images, which will show you how the new car looks like from the outside…
