Display & Design: A Tie!

The company has used the same design as Realme X, and even the same display. Unlike Realme X with the pop-up sensor, Realme XT comes with a notch. The rear camera module sits on the left top without any physical fingerprint sensor. The mid-range flagship comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Realme XT comes with a high-quality glass body, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It does feel premium. The glass sandwich built is backed by some of the striking gradient colour schemes.

Vivo Z1X also has the same built on the outside as Realme XT, a glass sandwich body protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Most importantly, both the smartphones feel very premium in hand. The overall ergonomics are perfect, sturdy, premium and they feel good to be held.

Realme XT features a 6.4-inch full-screen AMOLED display with a notch, and not a pop-up sensor. Vivo Z1X has the 6.38-inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display with a similar water drop notch instead of a hole on the screen.

Both the displays are quite vibrant and they come with minimal bezels on the sides with a little chin down under and in-display optical fingerprint scanners.

Unlike Realme X with the pop-up sensor, Realme XT comes with a notch. Similarly, Vivo Z1X has a notch and not a punch-hole as predecessor Vivo Z1 Pro. Both the devices have the rear camera module sits on the left top with gradient finishes.

Hardware & Storage: Again A Tie!

Both the smartphones run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset. It’s the second smartphone for both Realme and Vivo in the country to use the new Qualcomm chip after Realme 5 Pro and Vivo Z1 Pro respectively. Based on an 10nm architecture, it couples with Adreno 616 GPU. Snapdragon 712 is almost 10 per cent faster than Snapdragon 710 chip.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 offers 45 per cent better graphical performance and 2 times better AI performance, helping the Realme smartphone deliver around 25 percent better overall performance.

In terms of daily performance, both Realme XT and Vivo Z1X both can run almost all tasks and mid-end games without any hiccups. There won’t be any noticeable difference in daily use given the memory-heavy apps and social media.

Both will do a great job when it comes to extended gaming and extensive multitasking. There are different models to choose from with upto 8GB RAM and 128GB storage on both and offered with 4GB, 6GB and 8GB of RAM (XT has a 4GB RAM model only) along with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.

With everything the same in the inside, the only differentiating factor remains the software when it comes to daily performance. Both FuntouchOS and ColorOS are heavily customised, and we leave it you which one you prefer.

Software: ColorOS vs FunTouchOS

Realme XT runs on the same new Color OS 6 UI. The newly improved UI does offer some refreshing features compared to the previous OS with an easy-to-use overall structure and few tweaks. It’s a big upgrade over the last generation Color OS. You can notice the differences on the notification toggle and some changes in the settings menu.

Based on the latest Android 9 Pie, the new ColorOS 6 UI packs in a bunch of user-friendly features and functions.

On the other hand, Vivo Z1X also runs on Android 9 Pie, but with Funtouch 9.0 UI on top. The UI comes loaded with features and bloatware, and delivers a clean performance as any other non-stock device. There’s bloatware and customisations, but it isn’t bad.

The company has added a ton of features in their latest edition of the software, and it does look fresh and sorted.

Both the UIs are heavily customised, so we leave this to you to prefer anyone of the two for daily use. Realme is reportedly working on its own UI, RealmeOS. It’s supposed to launch by the end of the year, and will be pushed to all the existing Realme smartphones via OTA updates.

Quad Camera vs Triple Camera, 64MP vs 48MP: The Big Battle

Realme XT features a rear four camera system. Realme XT is the first 64MP quad camera phone in the country. As the newly launched Realme 5 series, Realme XT comes with a rear quad camera system, powered by the 64MP camera sensor. The 64MP Samsung GW1 1/1.72? sensor on XT can create shots 1.6 micron individual pixel size using image sensing technology via Tetracell to produce 16-megapixel images in low-light.

The Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor uses 4-in-1 pixel merging technology to merge four 0.8 micron pixels into a single 1.6-micron pixel to offer detailed images in low light conditions. It can shoot raw 64MP photos with the main sensor.

Up front, Realme XT has the same 16-megapixel selfie camera as Realme X with HDR and AI beautification, while Vivo Z1X has a 32MP selfie sensor.

The selfies on both have a lot of details and it supports multiple shooting modes and filters to enhance selfies. The AI-powered modes do a good job in terms of capturing details. The colours were a bit overdone and slightly artificial, but in overall, the front camera does a good job, be it wide shots or low light shots.

The rear four camera setup has multiple sensors for multiple purposes, and Realme XT has some advantage here.

Both can take good detailed and sharp pictures in bright light with accurate colours. In poorly lit conditions, Realme XT manages to click decent photos with almost accurate details and colours. We are yet to test the camera in-depth, but the initial results are very impressive.

The dynamic range on the Vivo Z1X is good and it captures quite accurate details and produce good colours.

The HDR works fine, and the ultra-wide lens work fine. The macro lens and portrait sensor does their job decently.

Coming to the biggest question, does 64MP triumphs 48MP? In a single word, NO, it doesn’t, but there are differences you notice minutely. The biggest difference comes with when you crop in upto 100 percent. There are subtle differences in detailing. Orelse both 64MP Samsung and 48MP Sony sensors capture a lot of details, dynamic range with accurate colours, even at places the 48MP Sony sensor outperforms the latest Samsung one.

The camera interface is quite minimal on both and each come loaded with AI-powered modes to enhance the overall photography. AI works on both sides to adjust to the particular lighting and adjust the filters. In all, both Z1X and Realme XT good and make use of their respective lenses to take up some great shots.

Battery: 22W FlashCharge vs 20W VOOC 3.0 Fast Charging

Realme XT houses a 4,000mAh battery. The smartphone supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging with a Type C 20W fast charger included in the box. Realme XT can charge up the whole device under 80 minutes from 5 to 100 percent. The new Realme device can easily last more than a day on heavy usage, and even a day and a half on moderate use.

Vivo Z1X pack a larger 4,500mAh battery supporting 22W fast charging with USB type C support. The device uses AI smart optimization to extend the phone’s battery to last longer supporting 18W fast charging technology. The charge time may vary from 90 to 100 minutes.

Realme XT vs Vivo Z1X Verdict: Who To Pick Under 17000?

Realme XT does offer some excellent features on-board, and it’s very affordable as well. You get the latest 64MP camera technology, a four camera system, an AMOLED display, in-display fingerprint sensor, good mid-range Snapdragon chip, glass body, all this starting at just Rs 15,999.

The 64MP powered quad camera system is going to be the biggest USP on Realme XT, and the smartphone certainly does make a good choice considering some of the departments as performance, cameras, display and battery.

Vivo Z1X also have an AMOLED display, an in-display fingerprint sensor, 48MP powered triple cameras and fast charging capabilities.

In all, both the devices pack in a solid performance backed by a good processor, big display, a large battery and finally the multi cameras for different occasions with the much talked-about 64MP Samsung and Sony 48MP sensors backing it up.

In all, both Vivo Z1X and Realme XT and ticks all the boxes right.

Realme XT has an edge here with the 64MP Samsung sensor and an additional macro lens. While Vivo Z1X has a slightly larger battery. But both complement each other. The 64MP camera sensor doesn’t make a big difference neither a slightly larger battery.

The smartphones are also priced in the same range. The 6GB/64GB models of both Realme XT and Vivo Z1X cost the same (Rs 16,999), and that’s a tie again. Both pack in the same type of performance backed by the same Snapdragon 712, big notched AMOLED displays, large battery and fast charging technologies.

The brand new 64MP quad camera technology remains the only big factor to choose between either of the two. Honestly, the 64MP won’t make a huge difference. The 48MP sensor equally takes great pictures. Lastly, it’s a choice for you to make which to pick. The rest remains same.
