Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Strategic Analysis

Here we have picked up the important points to find out the major differences between Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Plastic Body vs Glass Body

Starting with the body and built, the new Realme smartphone has a polycarbonate body. The company claims it to be a high-quality plastic body, but plastic is plastic. That doesn’t change the ergonomics.

In comparison, Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a premium glass sandwich built, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides.

On the downside, yes glass is less durable than plastic. So, Realme 3 Pro will have an edge here with a plastic body. But on the other hand, glass feels far more premium.

Another thing, both are fingerprint magnets. So, you will either need a cover or a cloth to wipe off smudges all the time. Realme 3 Pro is splash and dust proof.

The Notched Display

Yes, both the smartphones come with notches. So there’s nothing much to compare. Realme 3 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ screen with a notch on top. It has a 2340 x 1080 pixel screen resolution offering similar display quality.

None of them come with AMOLED displays, so the screen quality is similar.

Also, both Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Both would survive the slight-edge short falls.

Snapdragon 675 vs Snapdragon 710: Who Offers Better Performance?

Realme 3 Pro has been taking a dig at Redmi Note 7 since it began to market its upcoming smartphone last month. The smartphone can run Fortnite out of the box, Note 7 Pro can’t and so and so.

Does that make a big difference?

Does Realme 3 Pro performs better than Redmi Note 7 Pro?

Realme 3 Pro is powered by a 10nm Snapdragon 710 SoC while Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on Snapdragon 675. Both are entry-premium flagship chips from Qualcomm, capable of offering some sleek performance.

Let’s understand the major differences.

Snapdragon 675 has an Adreno 612 GPU as compared to the Adreno 616 on Snapdragon 710. So, a bit better graphic experience will help in the high-end gaming.

Though Snapdragon 675 beats the Snapdragon 710 in ISP. Snapdragon 710 on Realme 3 Pro has two 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP, and Snapdragon 675 has the improved 14-bit Spectra 250L ISP to support 48MP cameras.

In all, both are almost same, but Snapdragon 710 with a slight edge being built on a 10nm process compared to the 11nm architecture on Snapdragon 675.

Additionally, Realme 3 Pro has added Hyperboost 2.0 based on Color OS to offer features like System boost, and Game Boost – Touch and Frame boost for a smoother gaming experience.

Realme 3 runs on ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. Note 7 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. Being two different UIs running on the same latest Android versions, it’s better to leave it to you what you prefer.

Let’s Talk About Cameras

On Realme 3 Pro, you get a rear dual camera setup at the back comprising of a 16MP main camera, Sony sensor IMX 519 f/1.7 with a 5 megapixel secondary depth sensor. It comes with special Speed Shot feature to offer high-quality burst mode photos.

Realme 3 Pro will support Chroma boost feature with Ultra HD mode to click 64MP photos.

Up front, Realme 3 Pro comes with a 25 MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

Fast Charging Out Of The Box

Both the smartphones come with fast charging support. Redmi Note 7 Pro supports USB Type-C 18W fast charging, while Realme 3 Pro comes with Micro USB powered VOOC 3.0 fast charging feature (20W). Note 7 Pro has a 4,000 mAh battery while Realme 3 Pro has a 4,045 mAh battery.

The new VOOC 3.0 can fully charge up the 4,045 mAh battery on Realme 3 Pro in under 80 minutes.

Realme 3 Pro comes with the fast charger in the box, and for Redmi Note 7 Pro you need to buy one separately.

Again, both Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro come at an exact similar pricing. Both Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro will come in two storage variants (Realme 3 Pro 8GB RAM model will launch later).

  • 4GB RAM with 64GB storage at Rs 13,999

FINAL WORD

Coming to back where we started, does Realme 3 Pro outperform Redmi Note 7 Pro? The answer is NO. It doesn’t. Both Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro have their own better features. Offered at a same price, both these smartphones are going be compared again and again for the whole year.

One has a better camera or one has a better chipset or one is better looking.

To be brutally honest, both the smartphones are awesome. Both Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 Pro being offered at such a competitive pricing will now push more manufacturers to make better smartphones at more affordable rates.

To sum up, Realme is certainly done a great job with Realme 3 Pro, but it doesn’t outperform Note 7 Pro straightaway.
