The successor to the Honor bestseller from last year, Honor 8X brings a host of top features packed in an affordable budget option. The smartphone is a major upgrade to the existing Honor 7X. Elongated 19:9 notched display, a new processor, bigger battery to much more, Honor 8X has a lot to offer.

On the other hand, Realme 2 Pro offers some top of the line features starting at a price under 14,000 rupees only.

Honor 8X vs Realme 2 Pro: In-Depth Comparison

Both the smartphones come with an almost similar set of features priced in the similar budget category.

Design & Build

Realme 2 Pro comes with a polycarbonate body made to feel like glass and metal. Honor 8X is well built as well and does not feel big in hand, in spite of the huge screen size. Both of the smartphones are sturdy, and their finishes make them more premium.

Display

Both Honor 8X and Realme 2 Pro come with notches. Honor 8X has a standard notch and the other one has a water-drop shaped notch. Realme 2 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 display with very thin bezels and 409 ppi. While Honor 8X has a larger 6.5-inch Full HD+ 19:9 elongated display with a notch similar to the one on the Honor Play.

Both the smartphones offer a full view screen, but Realme 2 Pro with that tear-drop notch provides a better viewing experience.

Hardware & Performance

Realme 2 Pro runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE paired with up to 8GB of RAM. Honor 8X is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset paired with upto 6GB of RAM. Both the chipsets work well with the smartphones and offer a lag-free experience running basic and moderately-heavy tasks with ease.

The SD 660 on Realme 2 Pro will stay a tad head if pitted against each other. In all, both the smartphones will run smooth in terms of multitasking, casual games and memory management.

Storage

Realme 2 Pro is available in three storage variants: 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB. Honor 8X, on the other hand, is available in two storage variants: 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB in India.

Software & User Experience

Realme 2 Pro comes with its own custom UI: Color OS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. On the other hand, Honor 8X runs Android Oreo 8.1 based on the latest EMUI 8.2.

Both the UI has a bit of bloatware but offer a seamless experience in terms of daily use.

Rear Camera

Realme 2 Pro comes with a primary 16 megapixel f/1.7 sensor paired with a 5 megapixel secondary depth sensor. On the other hand, Honor 8X comes with a 20 megapixel primary lens coupled with a 2 megapixel secondary depth sensor.

Both the smartphones come with AI-enabled features and camera setup. Both the cameras on these two smartphones produce good details, accurate colors and sharpness.

Front Camera

Honor 8X comes with an 16 megapixel AI enabled front shooter. Similarly, Realme 2 Pro also features a 16 megapixel front shooter backed by AI based imaging capabilities.

Battery

Honor 8X comes with a bigger 3,750mAh battery compared to the 3,500mAh battery on Realme 2 Pro. Both the smartphones can easily run for a day on a single charge with heavy usage.

Realme 2 Pro vs Honor 8X: Verdict

Honor 8X starts at Rs 14,999, while Realme 2 Pro starts at 1,000 rupees less at 13,990. Realme 2 Pro offers a better processor, water-drop notched display and built, but Honor 8X has a bigger battery, larger display and some extra features.

Both the smartphones are really good and offer value for money propositions at their respective price points. But still, Realme 2 Pro will stay one notch up if put against each other straight on.
