Soon after entering the top list, the Chinese manufacturer is now the largest Smart TV brand in the country. Xiaomi has reached the feat of being No. 1 Smart TV Brand in India under six months.

After reckoning the TV market in India, the company is now starting its manufacturing journey in the country.

Xiaomi TVs will now be manufactured in India in association with Dixon Technologies to support the ‘Make in India’ program. The Xiaomi Mi TV manufacturing facility is located at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

Mi TV Production In India: Mi TVs May Get Cheaper

The company currently has an affordable range of Smart TVs available in the country. Till now Xiaomi imported the televisions from China, and the taxes added to the final price. As they will now produce the Mi LED TVs in India, it will help Xiaomi to save a substantial amount on the duties.

Recently the company faced a number of price issues due to India’s falling economy. The rupee is now the worst performing currency in Asia. Xiaomi had to increase the prices for a number of products and the Mi TVs were one of them.

The Mi TVs imported from China came with 20 percent of duties, tax plus insurance and logistics fees. With that cost gone, the prices may see a 15 to 20 percent drop within a few months.

It’s still too early to anticipate, but the prices may come down, or Xiaomi probably will not increase the prices of the Mi TVs any further.

Mi TV Production In India: Sales

Initially, Xiaomi will assemble the parts of Mi TVs in collaboration with Dixon Technologies. The company will assemble the Mi LED TV 4As: 32-inch and 43-inch. Launched back in March, both the Mi LED TV 4As: 32-inch and 43-inch have done very well in the market.

Xiaomi has already sold more than 5 lakh Mi TV units in the country in the last two quarters.

The Mi TV 4As fall in the affordable category of Xiaomi Mi LED TVs. The 32-inch Mi TV 4A is priced at Rs 13,999 while the larger 43-inch Mi TV 4A is priced Rs 22,999. The company started selling Mi televisions roughly six months back via its famous flash sales.

Mi TVs: No More Flash Sales

Xiaomi recently announced the Mi Televisions will now be available via open sale. It has already dropped the flash sale model for these Mi TVs in the country, and with higher supply, the availability will see a major jump.

With its local TV manufacturing unit, now Xiaomi will be able to produce more units to meet the growing demand.

Just like its smartphones, Xiaomi TVs are in high demand in India. But due to limited supply, the company has not been to able to cater to the demand.

Xiaomi’s Formula Of Success: 5 Lakh TVs Under Six Months

Xiaomi has been able to sell more than 5 lakh Mi TVs in India just under six months. The five-percent business model has worked very well in a price sensitive market like India. The Indian TV market has heartily accepted Xiaomi and the demand will keep growing with time.

Indians love to buy products who offer value for money specs and Mi TVs is a complete package offering top features at very competitive price points.

Until Xiaomi came, the TV industry hardly had any Smart TV offering the sort of specs Mi TVs offer at this price bracket. Now with its local production in place, Xiaomi can cater to the growing demand by bringing down the total cost.
