Rail Passengers Can Now Board Train From Any Stations In The Route! But This Step Is Mandatory

Here is some amazing news for railway passengers. Now passengers can catch a train from any other station instead of the original railway station. Railways are not going to charge you any fine for this. To change the boarding station, you must make changes in your ticket, or else you might be fined.

Sometimes there is a sudden requirement to change the boarding station. For instance, the boarding station may be too far away and passengers might fear missing the train. So, if the train stops at the station closer to the passenger, then the passenger can amend his boarding station.

Cognizant of this issue faced by the passengers, IRCTC allows passengers to change the boarding station. This facility can only be availed by the passengers who have booked train tickets online and not through travel agents or through Passenger Reservation System. Aside from this, change in boarding station cannot be done in PNRs of VIKALP option.

Changes will have to be made within 24 hours of train departure

Any passenger who wants to change his boarding station will have to make changes online 24 hours before the train’s departure. But, as per the official IRCTC website to the passengers, once passengers change their boarding station, then they cannot catch the train from the original boarding station.

Note that if you catch a train from another boarding station then you may have to pay a penalty and the difference of the fare between the boarding point and the revised boarding point. As per the rules of IRCTC- Change in the boarding station can only be done once, so whenever you make a change, be absolutely sure. Here are the steps you need to take to change the boarding station in the online ticket booked from IRCTC:

1. Go to the official IRCTC website  https://www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search.

2. Enter your login details and the password and then go to ‘Booking Ticket History’.

3. Select your train and go to ‘change boarding point’.

4. You will be directed to a new page, in the drop down menu select the new boarding station for that train.

5. After selecting the new station, the system will ask for your confirmation. Click on ‘OK’.
