Development of Railways have become an important part of the development of the country.

With around 1.4 lakh vacancies currently, the first thing that newly appointed CEO and chairman of Railway Board, Suneet Sharma, is aiming to do in his tenure is to fill these vaccines. For that the Railway board has already started conducting exams for selection of candidates.

What Did Suneet Sharma Say?

Sharma has succeeded the previous and the first CEO of the reconstructed railway board,  Vinod Kumar Yadav. Sharma was appointed after the completion of a one year extended tenure of Yadav which ended on 31st December 2020.

In an exclusive interview Sharma said, “We have started examinations through Railway Recruitment Board. Exams were also held in December. This is a continuous process and there is a lot of recruitment to be done. We will take care of the facilities for the candidates so that candidates can give exams properly. Hopefully, we will be able to fill our vacancies in the coming time.”

He is also positive regarding giving a chance to the already selected candidates and  a large number of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) who have not undergone any training yet.

Why Was The Training Stopped?

Like any other sector, the recruitment of Railways was put on hold due to the effect of pandemic on the training centers. He added,  “That is why, due to not running smoothly, we had to stop some people. But, now we have started training in all training centres. Whatever candidates have been provided to us by the Railway Recruitment Board, their training has started and if no one is able to start then it will start very soon”

It should be noted that a total of 2,42,00,000 candidates applied for the computer based test which has been started from 15 December 2020. Considering the number of vacancies, from these 2.4 crore candidates only 1.4 lakh will be selected by the railway board.
