The list features the upcoming 5G smartphones of 2020. The companies will either directly offer 5G with their premium handset, or launch a separate 5G variant of the same.

Realme X50: Realme 5G Phone

The company has finally confirmed its first-ever 5G smartphone, the Realme X50. The company CEO has previously confirmed that the Realme 5G phone i.e Realme X50 will also launch in India once the 5G infrastructure is ready in the country. The company has officially announced the 5G Realme smartphone, and it’s going to be called Realme X50. The Realme 5G phone aka Realme X50 will support dual-mode NSA and SA 5G network, confirmed by Realme CMO Xu Qi Chase in a Weibo post.

As any other 5G device in the market available right now, the Realme X50 will support dual-mode 5G connectivity. The newly launched Qualcomm affordable 5G 700-series chip, Snapdragon 765G will power Realme X50 5G phone.

Xiaomi Mi 10 5G

Xiaomi Mi 10 has been officially confirmed by the company, and the company VP and co-founder Bin Lin confirmed that its next flagship. Xiaomi Mi 10 will be powered by Snapdragon 865, announced by the company chief at the ongoing Qualcomm Summit in Hawaii. This is not the first time Xiaomi has announced a flagship smartphone at the summit, the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Xiaomi Mi 9 were also announced on stage in Hawaii with the then latest Snapdragon flagship chips. 

Mi 10 will be the company’s next top flagship smartphone with the best of the specs preceding Mi 9, launched back in February. Xiaomi is yet to share the details, but the Mi 10 global launch is expected in the first quarter of 2020.

Redmi K30 Pro 5G

With the first smartphone of the Redmi K30 series already out, the next K30 Pro is set to arrive in 2020. Redmi K20 Pro in India has been quite successful, and it’s currently a bestseller in the entry premium flagship segment. Just as Redmi K30, the Redmi K30 Pro will also pack in a wide range of top specs. K30 Pro will don the latest Qualcomm flagship chip: Snapdragon 865 along with other premium features.

Redmi K30 Pro will sport a AMOLED display offering 120Hz refresh rate, a quad camera setup powered by 64MP main camera, punch-hole styled display, in-display fingerprint sensor, 12GB RAM with upto 256GB storage, 5G connectivity (in India, 4G variant will launch) and fast charging capabilities.

Realme X3 Pro 5G

Realme has already unveiled Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro, and they will be upgrading the current mid-range flagship Realme devices in less than two quarters. Realme X3 Pro will be a part of the earlier Realme X series expected to come with a better display and other specs. The company may opt for a punch-hole display this time for Realme X3 Pro with Snapdragon 865 powering the smartphone.

With the penta camera fever catching up, Realme X3 Pro might come with penta camera powered rear camera systems. Realme X3 Pro will succeed X2 Pro with an expected design upgrade and some additional functionalities. Realme X3 Pro will arrive in the second half of 2020.

Galaxy S11 Plus 5G

The Samsung Galaxy S11 series will launch in early 2020, and the leaks have already revealed pretty much everything about both the devices: the standard Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11 Plus. There will be three smartphones in the upcoming Galaxy S11 series as the current generation: Galaxy S11, Galaxy S11E and Galaxy S11 Plus. Set to launch in February, the Galaxy S11 series will succeed the current Galaxy S10 flagships with upgraded internals. If we go by the leaked pictures, we see an upgraded rear panel design.

Both Galaxy S11 and S11 Plus will be powered by Snapdragon 865 featuring Dynamic AMOLED panels with Quad HD+ resolution, while the Plus model with come with 5G capabilities. It also has been tipped that Galaxy S11 will come with a five camera module in a rectangular box shaped module with the 108MP camera as main lens with 5X optical zoom and other sensors for different purposes.

OnePlus 8 Pro 5G

The OnePlus 8 live images have already been leaked, and the new OnePlus 8 smartphones will don a new punch-hole design technology to offer a notch-less viewing experience. Both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a punch-hole camera up front without a pop-up sensor or notch as previous devices. Also, they will have an extra camera sensor, so it will be the first OnePlus smartphones to feature a quad camera setup.

An upgrade over the current 90Hz refresh rate, OnePlus 8 Pro will come with a more enhanced display with 120Hz refresh rate to offer an enriched super smooth experience and 5G capabilities. Both the OnePlus 8 smartphones will be powered by Snapdragon 865, expected to launch in mid-2020 globally, probably in June.

Google Pixel 5 5G

There’s a lot riding on Pixel 5 in 2020. It could be the last year for Pixel smartphones if they fail again. Both Pixel 3 and Pixel 4 series have not been able to generate much buzz among smartphone buyers, and Google will try to make it up with Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 5XL. In spite of being good smartphones, the Pixel still aren’t the bestsellers in the market. A new design is expected, and the company may choose to completely transform Pixel 5 smartphone from current Pixel 4 series of smartphones.

Both Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 5XL will come with more attractive features running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 platform under the hood. With camera being the major USP, Google will again keep the focus on cameras for Pixel 5 and Pixel 5XL, with the latter is rumoured to feature 5G.

iPhone 12 5G, iPhone 12 Pro 5G

While the next generation iPhones are still almost a year away, the leaks have already started to pour in for the next iPhone 12 series. Each variant of the upcoming iPhone 12 series will come with 5G support out of the box. Also some leaks suggest that the iPhone 12 series will have smartphones with quad camera systems, probably only the top-end models. The company recently embraced the three camera setup for the latest iPhone 11 variants, and it can soon upgrade to a quad camera system as per the flying rumours.

The iPhone 12 models will feature an additional camera module, probably a 3D time of flight (ToF) sensor to gauge three-dimensional depth also to be utilised as a “rear 3D sensing system.” iPhone 12 smartphones may also feature a radar-like sensor as Soli on Pixel 4 with upgraded 120Hz displays.

OnePlus 8T 5G, OnePlus 8T Pro 5G

In the last quarter of 2020, we will have the upgraded OnePlus 8 smartphones: OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8T Pro. The company is trying to move up the funnel to establish itself as a more premium brand, and hence the OnePlus 8T models are expected to offer more minimalistic design backed by the top features. The OnePlus T models generally come with slight upgrades, and hence mostly it’s going to be the same between OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T Pro.

OnePlus 8T smartphones will have similar design and features as OnePlus 8 models like the punch-hole camera upfront, quad camera and build. The devices will have a change with the hardware and some additional functionalities. Both the OnePlus 8T models will support 5G.

Samsung Note 11 Plus 5G

Samsung Galaxy Note 11 will launch in the final quarter of 2020, and Samsung will have already started work on the flagship. The leaked concept design of Galaxy S11 hints at a full-screen display without any notch or punch-hole, which may also inspire the Galaxy Note 11. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 will power Note 11 in the US, and the top-end Exynos chip in other countries including India. 

Galaxy Note 11 will have certain improvements over the current Note 10 alongside a 5G model. As Note 10 series, the Note 11 will also have two models, a standard and a plus variant. Coming to optics, Galaxy Note 11 might upgrade over the triple-lens setup with a quad or penta camera system, with a seperate 5G variant of Note 11 Plus.

Nokia 5G Phone

HMD Global at the event has confirmed that a Nokia smartphone will launch next year based on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 765 platform. The Nokia Snapdragon 765 smartphone is going to be a mid-range device backed by flagship features.

The company aims to deliver an affordable future proof 5G experience in NSA and SA networks with the Snapdragon 765.

Motorola 5G Phone

Lenovo-owned Motorola will also be joining in the 5G bandwagon with two new smartphones next year. Starting with the new chip, a mid-range Motorola smartphone will come with the latest Snapdragon 765 platform offering 5G on both networks (NSA and SA networks) at an affordable pricing.

The Motorola Snapdragon 765 smartphone may launch in early 2020. Motorola also confirmed a smartphone on the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, so a flagship Motorola Snapdragon 865 smartphone is also expected around the same time. 

Oppo Reno 3 5G

Oppo is going to be the one of the first companies to launch a smartphone running on the latest Snapdragon 765 platform. All set to be unveiled on December 26, 5-3 Oppo Reno 3 5G will be available from January 2020. It has already been confirmed to be running on the all new Snapdragon 765 platform.

So, the first Oppo Snapdragon 765 smartphone is the upcoming Oppo Reno 3 5G. The company will be launching more Oppo phones running on the new mid-range Snapdragon 765 chip.
