Apart from Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm unveiled two more important chips which will help smartphone manufacturers to integrate further deep into the 5G market: Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G.
Snapdragon 865 stole the limelight, but these two new 5G Snapdragon chips could actually be pathbreaking for the cellular industry.
5G still remains a naive feature, and only the top-end smartphones support the latest connectivity.
Qualcomm aims to penetrate deep into the growing market of 5G smartphones, and the latest affordable 5G chips: Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G will help the US chip-maker target the upper and flagship mid-range segment.
Snapdragon 765G Specs, Snapdragon 765 Specs
Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G are based on Samsung’s 7nm EUV process. The chips pack in Snapdragon X52 integrated 5G modem supporting SA and NSA 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz frequencies. It supports Dynamic Spectrum Sharing with peak download speeds up to 3.7Gbps.
Coming to the architecture, the octa-core chip has Kryo 475 with a peak clock of 2.3 GHz, while 765G has a slightly boosted speed at 2.4 GHz.
The Snapdragon 765 series chips come with LPDDR4X up to 2,133 MHz.
In terms of graphical performance, both the chips are powered by Adreno 620. Snapdragon 765G has additional Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such as Game Smoother, Game Fast Loader and Game Network Latency Manager supporting 120Hz refresh rate on Full HD+ displays.
Hexagon 696 DSP enable Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G to offer 5.5 TOPS of AI performance.
The Snapdragon 765 chips sport Spectra 355 ISP. It can process images up to 192MP and can capture or up to 22MP dual cameras with zero shutter lag. The Snapdragon 765 series can perform native HDR and 10-bit video capture as the top-end Snapdragon 865.
Upcoming Snapdragon 765G Phones, Snapdragon 765 Phones
Launched as the first of its kind mid-range 5G chips, Qualcomm plans to disrupt the next generation market of 5G phones with the new Snapdragon 765G and Snapdragon 765. Many companies have already confirmed devices based on chips at the summit.
These are the upcoming Snapdragon 765G phones and smartphones confirmed to be based on Snapdragon 765.
Nokia Snapdragon 765 Smartphone
HMD Global at the event has confirmed that a Nokia smartphone will launch next year based on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 765 platform. The Nokia Snapdragon 765 smartphone is going to be a mid-range device backed by flagship features.
The company aims to deliver an affordable future proof 5G experience in NSA and SA networks with the Snapdragon 765.
Motorola Snapdragon 765 Smartphone
Lenovo-owned Motorola will also be joining in the 5G bandwagon with two new smartphones next year. Starting with the new chip, a mid-range Motorola smartphone will come with the latest Snapdragon 765 platform offering 5G on both networks (NSA and SA networks) at an affordable pricing.
The Motorola Snapdragon 765 smartphone may launch in early 2020. Motorola also confirmed a smartphone on the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, so a flagship Motorola Snapdragon 865 smartphone is also expected around the same time.
Oppo Snapdragon 765 Smartphone: Oppo Reno 3 5G
Oppo is going to be the one of the first companies to launch a smartphone running on the latest Snapdragon 765 platform. All set to be unveiled in December, Oppo Reno 3 5G has already been confirmed to be running on the all new Snapdragon 765 platform.
So, the first Oppo Snapdragon 765 smartphone is the upcoming Oppo Reno 3 5G. The company will be launching more Oppo phones running on the new mid-range Snapdragon 765 chip.
Xiaomi Snapdragon 765 Smartphone: Redmi K30
Xiaomi at the Snapdragon summit confirmed that the much-hyped Redmi K30 will come with Snapdragon 765 SoC. The new chip will power Redmi K30 smartphone, the first device of the Redmi K30 series.
Set to launch on December 10, Redmi K30 is now the first smartphone to launch with the Snapdragon 765 platform.
Realme Snapdragon 765 Smartphone
While Realme is yet to confirm a smartphone based on the Snapdragon 765 platform, it has officially confirmed that Realme will launch smartphones on each of these new Snapdragon chips. The Realme Snapdragon 765 smartphone will launch in 2020.
Realme has also confirmed its first 5G smartphone, Realme X50. The company may bring in two 5G smartphones based on these platforms respectively.
