The Indian Railways is always taking efficient steps towards making journeys for their passengers a comfortable experience.

Indian Railways has now declared its plans of launching India’s first privately owned train, the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, which offers world-class amenities!

This comes just days after the national transporter announced the implementation of a new system on which the railways will work henceforth.

Here are some things that you should know about the new Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express by the Indian Railways:

Launch of the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express

As per the Chairman of the Railway Board, VK Yadav, the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express will be available for passengers in the first week of October

Schedules

There will be two trains, which have been numbered as 12585 and 12586. The Indian Railways has drafted a schedule for these trains, which is as follows:

The train number 12585 will leave from Lucknow at 6.50 AM to reach Delhi at 1.35 PM. The other train, 12586 will depart from Delhi on the same day, at 3.35 PM to arrive at Lucknow at 10.05 PM.

The train will run for six days a week, and the exception is Tuesday.

Fares

While the fares for the train are estimated to be higher than the Shatabdi Express, they will definitely be lesser than that of flight tickets for the same route, which is a great pro for the Tejas Express.

As per reports, the fare is expected to be 50% cheaper than the price of flight tickets. And this won’t be changing even during peak season.

We also know that children above 5 years of age will be charged the price of a regular ticket. There are no special concessions in the private Tejas Express train, not even for VIP. There are 53 categories made by the IRCTC that will get tickets at a discounted price. Some of these categories are award-winners, differently-abled and senior citizens, etc.

The Railway Board has handed out the responsibility of deciding on the ticket fares for the train to IRCTC.

Facilities Provided

Here’s the most important thing to know about the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express: the facilities it will offer! The first-ever train to be privatized, the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will have:

  • Personalized infotainment screens
