Top 10 Upcoming Smartphones Launching In September, 2019

It’s raining smartphones in September. It’s the month for new iPhones, but there’s more than it. The month of September will have some of the most important launches of the year including different devices for multiple price segments. We have Apple, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Huawei, Realme, Vivo, Oppo, Nokia all lined up to launch their devices this month.

Xiaomi and Realme will be unveiling the first 64MP smartphones in the country: Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT. 

Apple will unveil the latest iPhones, while Google is set to launch the new Pixel devices in September. The September list of upcoming phones is going to be long, and we have some of the much-awaited devices of the year as OnePlus 7T series, Redmi Note 8 series, Reno 2 series, iPhone 11 series, Mate 30 series and more.

Vivo Z2 Pro / Vivo Z1X Pro

Vivo will unveil a new Z series smartphone in the country in September. The company experienced huge success with its maiden Z series smartphone in the country, and it now plans to continue with the Z1 Pro success with another budget smartphone. The rumours hint at an upgraded version of the current Z1 Pro, to be called as Vivo Z1X. Other reports suggest that the second Z series smartphone will be the successor to the current Z1 Pro, to be called Vivo Z2 Pro. 

While the name remains unconfirmed, it’s for sure that Vivo will launch a new Z series smartphone in September. Vivo Z2 Pro will most probably launch in the first week of September in the country. 

Currently the first generation Vivo Z1 Pro challenges the likes of Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro and Realme 5 Pro. Vivo Z2 Pro will come with an improved 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor this time as the primary lens. Z2 Pro will be getting a similar triple camera system clubbed with an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Up front Vivo Z2 Pro will feature the same 32MP selfie shooter as Z1 Pro.

Redmi Note 8

The regular Redmi Note 8 will see a massive upgrade over the current Note smartphones. Redmi Note 8 will come with a similar design language as Redmi Note 7 series devices with Gorilla Glass 5 support. Redmi Note 8 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. Unlike Redmi Note 8 Pro, the regular Note 8 will come with a triple camera system on the rear panel. The camera specs confirm that Redmi Note 8 will come with a primary 48MP main camera, expected to be the Sony IMX586 sensor.

With the Sony IMX586 48MP sensor as main lens, it will make Redmi Note 8 the first smartphone to come with a Sony IMX586 48MP sensor at under 10,000 rupees.

Redmi Note 8 will come with a larger 4,500mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging (will pack in a standard 10W charger inside the box). The smartphone in India is expected to start at under Rs 10,000. Redmi Note 8 India launch will happen within a couple of weeks after the China launch, most probably by the end of September. Redmi Note 8 series is expected to be unveiled in China on August 29.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

The official promo video of Redmi Note 8 series shows Note 8 Pro with a similar design as the recently launched Redmi K20 series. The device will come with a quad-camera setup on the back panel. Redmi Note 8 series smartphones will feature a vertically aligned triple camera module in the middle of the back panel as Redmi K20 series smartphones. The fourth rear camera of the Redmi Note 8 smartphones will sit on the right side of the triple camera bump, as the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ along with an LED flash.

MediaTek has officially confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Note 8 series will be powered by the newly launched powerful gaming chipset, the MediaTek Helio G90T.

Redmi Note 8 Pro will use Samsung 64MP GM sensor along with three additional sensors: ultra wide-angle sensor, maco sensor and depth sensor for dedicated portraits. Upfront, the Redmi Note 8 series smartphones will retain the Dot drop notch similar to the Redmi Note 7 series. Redmi Note 8 Pro India launch will happen with Note 8 in September at around Rs 15,000. The device will launch in China first, probably on August 29.

Realme XT

Realme will unveil world’s first 64MP camera smartphone in September. The company has already disclosed the name, and the world’s first 64MP smartphone would be an upgraded version of the current Realme mid-range flagship, Realme X. The Realme 64MP smartphone is going to be called Realme XT. The upcoming Realme XT will feature a similar quad camera system as the new Realme 5 series. 

Realme XT will come with the Samsung GW1 64MP 1/1.72? sensor. This helps the smartphone to create shots 1.6 micron individual pixel size using imaging sensing technology via Tetracell to produce 16-megapixel images as well.

Realme XT will have the upgraded 64MP Samsung camera sensor compared to the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor on Realme X. While Realme X came with an additional 5MP depth sensor just, the 64MP sensor on Realme XT will have three additional sensors for different purposes: an ultra wide-angle sensor, a depth sensor and a 4cm macro sensor. Realme XT in India may cost somewhere around Rs 20,000.

OnePlus 7T Series: OnePlus 7T & OnePlus 7T Pro

The next OnePlus smartphone leaks are out wide in the air, and the company may launch its first 64MP camera sensor with OnePlus 7T Pro. The live images are already out, and the smartphone could be powered by the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chip. The latest leak hints at a September-end launch. OnePlus 7T series is being rumoured by multiple sources to be launching on September 26 in India.

The 7T series sales are supposed to start from mid-October. The new OnePlus 7T smartphones will launch in India first, and then will be unveiled in other markets in Europe and North America.

OnePlus will definitely be adapting the latest 64MP camera technology, we don’t know when. It could be OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro or a smartphone next year. The company will also be unveiling its first SmartTV in India in September. The launch is expected to happen at the same time for both the OnePlus 7T smartphones and the first OnePlus SmartTV. Currently OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are available via Amazon India and OnePlus stores.

Vivo Z5

Vivo is supposed to launch another Z series smartphone in the country in September alongside Vivo Z2 Pro, Vivo Z5. The company has already released some official teasers, and the launch is expected to happen in mid-September. Vivo Z5 smartphone will come with a similar design technology as Vivo Z1 Pro. The company will again use the same build as the existing Z series smartphone. The Z5 device will be built out of high quality plastic polycarbonate body.

The new Vivo Z series smartphone will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor, so it will have an AMOLED panel. The missing rear mounted fingerprint sensor via the leaked images confirm an unlocking sensor inside the display.

TENAA listing reveals a 2.3GHz octa-core processor, the same Qualcomm Snapdragon chip as Z1 Pro. Vivo will be using 48-megapixel imaging sensor as the main lens inside the three camera setup on Vivo Z5. The upcoming Vivo Z5 will come with a triple camera system at the back: 48-megapixel main sensor, a second 8-megapixel sensor and a third 2-megapixel depth sensor. Up front, Vivo Z5 will come with the same 32-megapixel selfie camera inside the notch.

iPhone 11 Series: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

Coming to the biggest launch of the year, Apple will be unveiling the new iPhones in the second week of September. The 2019 iPhones are supposed to be called iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The company is yet to confirm the launch date for iPhone 11 series. Going by the leaks, the regular iPhone 11 will come with a 6.1-inch screen, while iPhone 11 Pro will feature a smaller 5.8-inch screen. Finally the top-end iPhone 11 Pro Max will come with a 6.5-inch screen.

iPhone 11 will succeed iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro will succeed iPhone XS and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will succeed iPhone XS Max. It will feature the largest display of all the three, and will come with a 6.5-inch OLED screen.

iPhone 11 series will come with a square shaped camera module at the back. Coming to optics, a new report reveals that some of the upcoming iPhones will include a third lens, which could be an ultra wide angle lens. Apple is working on the AI software to offer better imaging capabilities and improve the low-light photography. The three new iPhones will come with enhanced water protection technology which will help the new iPhones to stay alive in water for longer durations.

Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7.2 & Nokia 8.2

HMD Global will unveil multiple smartphones at the IFA 2019 on September 5. The company is expected to unveil different second generation models of the current devices as Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 8.2. The smartphones are rumoured to come with water drop displays and triple rear camera systems. Nokia 7.2 will sport a circular camera module featuring a 48MP main sensor along with a 120-degree wide-angle lens in three colour options: Ice Blue, Forest Green and Charcoal Black.

Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 will come at around Rs 15,000 and Rs 18,000 as per the leaks and should launch in India in the sub Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 segment respectively.

The hands-on images of the difference devices show a glass sandwich body with slim form factor with water drop notched displays, first for the Nokia phone. The devices are now being unveiled globally, and the India launch of all the new Nokia phones will take time. HMD Global generally takes around two months after the initial launch to bring the devices to India, so it’s better to expect a date in October or November, or probably in the end of 2019.

Honor 9X Series: Honor 9X & Honor 9X Pro

Honor 9X and 9X Pro recently launched in China, and the devices may land in the country soon, probably by the end of September. The devices are in line with the Honor 20 series featuring the glass back in gradient colours with X-shaped patterns. Honor 9X and 9X Pro feature all-screen no-notch displays with an 6.59-inch OLED display on top. Both the Honor 9X smartphones are powered by the new flagship Kirin 810 chipset, based on an 7nm process.

Honor 9X offers a dual camera setup featuring a 48MP primary camera coupled with a 2MP depth sensor. Honor 9X Pro model has an additional third 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor.

The smartphone will come with notchless OLED displays without any notch. On top, the Honor 9X smartphones sport a pop-up camera. The sensor houses a 16MP selfie camera. Both the Honor 9X and 9X Pro come with the same 4,000mAh battery with support for fast charging. The Honor 9X smartphones in India are expected to start at around Rs 15,000.

Huawei Mate 30 Series: Mate 30 & Mate 30 Pro

The upcoming Huawei flagships will come with the next-gen 7nm Kirin 990, to be unveiled at the IFA Berlin on September 6. Mate 30 Pro is rumoured to come with a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with a short and wide display notch. It will house in the advanced 3D facial recognition technology. The regular model and the Pro model will sport different camera sensors. Mate 30 Pro will pack in two 40MP sensors on the back housed in a circular shaped camera module, while the regular model may sport only one.

The leaks hint to a 1/1.55″ lens for the main camera and a 1/1.7″ lens for the ultra-wide-angle camera. The other two sensors will include a 5x periscope-styled sensor and finally a 3D Time-of-Flight sensor.

Mate 30 probably will come with a rear three camera system unlike the quad camera setup on Mate 30 Pro. The next generation Kirin 990 will power the future Huawei and Honor flagships, starting with the new Mate 30 series. They will run on Android 9 Pie powered EMUI software systems. Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will run on 4,200mAh and 4,500mAh battery units respectively supporting 25W fast wireless charging in addition to 55W wired charging.

Oppo Reno 2 Series: Reno 2, Reno 2F & Reno 2Z

Oppo will unveil its latest Reno 2 series smartphones with quad-cameras and 20x zoom capabilities in India on August 28. Apart from the original Reno 2, the company will also unveil two more smartphones under the new series in the coming days. The leaks hint at three devices under Reno 2 series: Oppo Reno 2, Oppo Reno 2Z and Oppo Reno 2F. Oppo Reno 2 will come at around Rs 35,000 with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint reader offering 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Reno 2 will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G gaming-centric processor with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Oppo Reno 2 will have a 4,000mAh battery unit supporting VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The toned-down Oppo Reno 2Z will come at around Rs 25,000 featuring a MediaTek Helio P90 processor, and a quad camera system: 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP as Realme 5 Pro. On the other hand, Reno 2F will conclude the Reno 2 series with a similar quad-camera setup and features. Reno 2F will come with a a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor as the primary lens instead of Sony IMX586 lens. Rest of the specifications on both Reno 2Z and Reno 2F will match the regular Oppo Reno 2.
