WhatsApp’s Big Update For 2 Billion Users: Flash Calls, Message-Level Reporting Features & More Safety!

When you are the leading instant messaging company in the world, you need to keep on adding new features to your services in order to stay on the top. Also, in the world of privacy being a huge concern for users all over the world, additional safety feature always adds value to your digital product. With the same thought in mind, Meta-owned Whatsapp has brought a new safety feature to WhatsApp.

In India, WhatsApp launches Flash Call – a new safety feature

According to reports, WhatsApp has introduced new safety features in India called Flash Calls and Message Level Reporting features. This will be an additional layer on top of the SMS verification during the registration process on WhatsApp. Now, users can verify their number via an automated call while setting up their WhatsApp account.

As of now, WhatsApp Flash Calls is available only on Android. The feature might be released on iOS in the coming days. With this feature, without relying upon SMS verification, WhatsApp will call the user and verify their identity.

Reporting also becomes easier on WhatsApp

Along with Flash Calls, a new feature has been launched by WhatsApp. The Message Level Reporting feature on WhatsApp helps users report messages in an easier manner. You just need to long-press a message to either report or block the user.

Currently, WhatsApp lets users decide who can see their profile photo, status, last seen and about details. It also lets users select settings around group invites, which also includes not allowing anyone to add them in a group without their permission

WhatsApp for Desktop might also get some privacy features

Reportedly, WhatsApp for desktop is also likely to get some privacy features that were so far exclusive to the mobile app. With the prospective updates users will be able to manage their last seen, profile photo and about pages directly from the WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for desktop clients.
