LinkedIn will offer almost all of its 15,900 full-time workers next week off to prevent burnout. Google, OYO, PhonePe, and Cisco, among others, have taken steps to ensure that workers were not glued to their screens all day, placing them at risk of burnout. Employees are granted special “well-being” leave on weekdays to allow them more “me-time” for personal things, such as spending time with family.

What is well-being leave?

Well-being leave is a form of leave intended to prevent workers working from home from becoming burnt out as a result of continuous work. Remote working has become the new standard in many businesses, and workers have reported anxiety disorders as a result of the lack of personal time.

It’s been almost six months since workers began working from home, and many have expressed about the strain. They are unable to strike a balance between their personal and professional lives. People’s perceptions of working from home have completely turned into a waking nightmare, with sleepless nights and unpleasant mornings to never-ending meetings.

Working from home also means that a workday does not have a predetermined start and end time. During the pandemic, no overtime bonuses are charged. A day off will also indicate that the employer is making up for the extra hours worked.

Cut Off From Work And Rejuvenate

According to AFP news agency, the Microsoft-owned firm said that the “RestUp!” week starting Monday is meant to give employees time for their well-being.

“There is something magical about the entire company taking a break at the same time,” LinkedIn said. “And the best part? Not coming back to an avalanche of unanswered internal emails.”

“During the week, LinkedIn will provide employees who may feel isolated the option of taking part in daily activities such as volunteering for worthy causes through “random acts of kindness.”

“A core team of employees will continue to work for the week, but they will be able to schedule time off later,” LinkedIn said.

LinkedIn workers are currently working from home, and the company does not expect them to return until September. The company is also targeting to make it a common practice to allow them to work from home up to half of the time.

To help delay the spread of the coronavirus, major technology firms were among the first in the US to embrace working from home last year, though most have yet to completely reopen their offices.
