The most awaited news by Mumbaikar is finally here as the Railway department in Mumbai has shared the good news for the passengers travelling by local trains.

Direct Services Between Goregaon To Panvel

According to their official statement,the train between Goregaon and Panvel, on the Hourbour route will be starting from next month.

Further,the railway department have planned to run in total 18 local trains trips starting from Panvel to Andheri and then further extended to Goregaon.

At present,  a total of 44 local train round trips are operated from CSMT to Andheri to CSMT.

Now, this will further be extended to Goregaon. 

The move is expected to bring a certain relief to the passengers, as currently, only 42 local train round trips from CSMT to Goregaon to CSMT on the harbour line. 

Apart from this, another 62 local round trips run daily on CSMT to Andheri to CSMT and Panvel to Andheri to Panvel route.

As you may know that there is no local train from Goregaon to Panvel currently, so passengers have to go from Vasai, Virar, Borivali, Malad to reach Goregaon. 

In the similar manners, some concerns have been raised by passengers from Navi Miumbai, they have to take another local to reach Goregaon to reach Andheri station.

Resumptions Of Mumbai Local Services

There have been talks to resume Mumbai local services in the film city.

So far, around 1,580 are already in operation out of the 1,774 local train services.

Almost 20 categories of commuters are allowed including women commuters, which have been allowed to travel, said the Central Railway General Manager Sanjeev Mittal.

Although, they are allowed to travel via local trains only in a specific timeframe and not all through the day. 

Resumption Of Suburban Trains

In another development, Mittal said that they were ready to run suburban trains for the general public.

Although, the central railway administration is waiting for a formal approval from the Maharashtra government.

As they have raised concerns further hinting at a graded reopening of train operations in the state.

General public and passenger associations have been demanding resumptions of local trains from quite some time.

It seems that the lifeline of the city, local trains will soon be functional to its normal levels.
