Normal Trains Won’t Start Till April; 10% Discount On Tickets Booked After Chart Preparation!

Transportation was dormant because of the pandemic. In an attempt to resume the operations, there are some trains running on certain tracks. However, we will have to wait longer to see the railways functioning fully.

A senior railways official has revealed the estimated time required by the Indian railways to go back to its pre epidemic schedule.

When Are Railways Going To Resume Its Operations?

Currently, just 65% of the total Indian mail and express railways are operational. According to sources, Indian Railways will take up to 2 more months to resume its services completely. That means, we can expect all the trains to start running normally by the end of March.

The Indian Railways are gradually increasing the number of trains by activating 100 to 200 trains every month.

When Will Local Trains Start Running?

As we had reported earlier, the Mumbai railways services, being the lifeline of Mumbai residents, were resumed in June last year only for workers considered as essential service providers. There is a possibility of Mumbai locals resuming their services in January.

Now, the Indian railways is thinking of resuming the local trains running in Delhi NCR. Sources say that trains on local suburban tracks of some stations between Delhi and Haryana will restart from next month. These stations include Sonipat, Palwal, Mahendragarh, Gurugram, or adjoining cities of Rajasthan.

Is IRCTC Going To Provide Discounts On Tickets?

The delay in resuming railways services is not going in the favor of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The earning of IRCTC through railway book which was prosperous in usual circumstances will remain static till railways service restart completely.

Since IRCTC is mostly inactive, the official may have found this time to be perfect to make substantial updates in the IRCTC app. This revamped IRCTC Web and mobile applications were released on 31st December 2020.

IRCTC is planning to give a 10% discount to passengers on booking the berths available after the chart is prepared. The Railways prepare the train chart 4 hours before the train leaves the station. This discount offer will be applicable only in case of booking the ticket half hour before the train’s departure.
