Privatisation of Indian Railways has begun, with the first-ever private train running the tracks in the first week of October. 

In addition to that, the national transporter has also announced that there will be a minimum of 150 private trains to begin with. 

And now, we have confirmed news about 24 new trains that will be developed and run by private players on the tracks of Indian Railways.

Privatisation of Indian Railways; 24 New Routes

Tejas Express, India’s first-ever train that is run by IRCTC privately will begin its journey between Lucknow and Delhi in the first week of October. Ahead of its launch, there have been a whopping 2000 ticket bookings already, which speaks volumes about the success of the train. 

Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav has opinionated that the privatisation of trains will help modernisation of trains. 

Trains run by private trains will assuredly offer passengers a world-class experience and will come with a lot of upgraded facilities including pick up and drop of luggage of passengers and many more. 

A letter by the Railway Board reveals the 24 routes on which potential private trains will be run, which will be finalised in a meeting by Railway Board’s Member Traffic by September 27. 

Till this date, the officials have been asked to enlist “potentially viable and operationally feasible” routes. 

The 24 routes will be for long-distance and overnight trains, inter-city trains and sub-urban trains.

Ticket Fare Of Private Trains

As of now, fare of the tickets for these new routes haven’t been revealed yet. But it is expected that the ticket fare will on par with Shatabdi Express and/or Rajdhani Express.

However, the ticket fare for Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express is already out: 

Rs 1125 for AC Chair Car (Lucknow-Delhi)

Rs 1280 for AC Chair Car (Delhi-Lucknow)
