The world’s biggest smartphone event is on, and it has witnessed some of the best innovations in smartphones so far. From folding smartphones to 5G connectivity to 10X lose-less zoom, it’s been like a gala.

Top smartphone companies from around the world took the centre stage to unveil their latest technologies.

If you have not been able to keep a track of what’s happening at the MWC 2019, here’s a quick guide comprising all the major smartphone launches and tech innovations from the event so far.

New OnePlus Smartphone

OnePlus is all set to make its MWC debut this year. The company will launch its new 5G smartphone today the event, which is not OnePlus 7. The standalone OnePlus 5G device will ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The OnePlus MWC event starts at 18:45 IST, 25 February.

Huawei Mate X

After Galaxy Fold, it’s now Huawei who took the curtains off its own first foldable smartphone. And to our surprise, it looks better than Galaxy Fold, and seems more consumer friendly. The Huawei foldable smartphone is called Mate X, which also supports 5G. The Huawei Mate X awaits a commercial launch unlike Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Nokia 9 Preview

HMD Global teamed up with Light, a camera company who launched a special 16-lens camera like a smartphone some time back. Well, now for Nokia 9, the company has brought in a similar device which has five 12MP sensors (two RGB and three monochrome) and a sixth ToF lens running on Android One.

Oppo 10X Zoom Lens Smartphone

Oppo unveiled a new technology which allows you to zoom into as much as 10X without any loss in details. The company kept a miniature toy-town for display with the smartphone with 10X Zoom. One can easily zoom into the tiniest of parts with all the details. The Oppo 10x loss-less camera zoom technology is something we expect to see on Vivo and OnePlus phones in the future as well.

Xiaomi Mi 9 & Mi MIX 3 5G Variant

Xiaomi unveiled the global Mi 9 variant at the MWC 2019. Xiaomi Mi 9 was launched in China last week. The European Mi 9 will come with the same features like 6.39-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display, rear triple camera setup and Snapdragon 855 processor. Up next, Xiaomi announced the 5G version of Mi MIX 3 priced at €599 (around Rs 55,590). The Mi Mix 3 was announced in China back in October with 4G LTE support.

LG G8 ThinQ

LG will launch its new G series flagship at the MWC 2019 event. The smartphone will run on the latest Snapdragon 855 with a design similar to the last LG G7 ThinQ. The LG G8 ThinQ will come with Boombox Speakers powered by Meridian Audio, DTS:X 3D surround effect which can emulate 7.1 audio through headphones and speakers.

New Smartphones With Google Assistant Buttons

Google has announced a number of new smartphones which will come with Google Assistant buttons. Also, it’s much-awaited Digital Wellbeing is also expanding to the Moto G7 with Google Lens on the LG G8. The dedicated Google Assistant button will be seen on G7 ThinQ, V40 ThinQ, G8 ThinQ, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 and some other mid-range devices. The recently launched and Vivo V15 Pro also owns a AI button which launches an assistant.

Sony XZ4 Smartphone

Sony will unveil it’s XZ4 smartphone at the event. Sony is known to announce their next-gen smartphones at MWC since years, and this year too it’s the Sony XZ4. The smartphone will come with a unique 21:9 aspect ratio display. The Sony MWC event starts at 13:00 IST, today.
