48 Mega Pixel Camera Smartphone From Redmi?
As per a report by My Drivers, a Chinese tech portal, the new 48 megapixels camera smartphone can be branded under Redmi and is expected to be launched in the month of January 2019 in China.
As per tentative reports, the price of this smartphone is expected to be around CNY 2,000 (which is Rs. 21,000) in China.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed or denied this news as of now.
The report says that Xiaomi has already contracted BOE, a display manufacturer in China, for supplying special displays. These displays can withhold a LCD panel.
These indications support a theory that this new unnamed 48 mega pixel camera smartphone can have in-screen selfie camera.
If this happens, then this will be Xiaomi’s first camera smartphone with in-screen camera. Overall, it will be a tri-rear camera setup, with 48-megapixel sensor, 13-megapixel wide angle sensor, and a 16-megapixel depth sensor. Besides, it is expected that Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 855 processor will power this new smartphone, becoming World’s 1st such phone.
However, Honor View 20, Huawei Nova 4 and Samsung A8 has already announced their own version of 48 megapixel camera phones, powered with in-screen display camera. But if Xiaomi manages to launch this mysterious phone next month, then they can score some major points.
Is This Mi 9?
Another major speculation is that this mysterious 48 Megapixel camera smartphone with in-screen display camera can be Mi 9, the next generation of Redmi’s flagship model.
We have already speculated this possibility, but with recent leaks emerging from China, this becomes more evident now: Launch date in January, priced around Rs 20,000 and having the next-generation camera and AI setup.
Xiaomi co-founder and president, Lin Bin was having a conversation on Weibo, and he hinted that this new smartphone can be indeed Redmi’s next flagship model.
We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
