Indian Govt: Sorry, but No Chinese Company Allowed!

Right now, Huawei is World’s 2nd biggest manufacturer of mobiles. But their expertise and experience won’t be appreciated in India.

In one of the most direct attacks against Chinese firms, Indian Govt. has made it clear that no company from China shall be allowed to take part in 5G rollout in India.

Other telecommunication majors such as Cisco, Samsung, Ericsson, and Nokia have been invited for the preparation, but Chinese companies have been totally ignored and avoided.

Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan has confirmed that they have not contacted Huawei for 5G preparations in India.

However, she didn’t specify the reason why.

As per analysts, the reason for ignoring China is the security factor.

Anti-China Move by Other Countries

India is definitely not the first country to avoid Chinese companies, when it comes to telecommunication projects, and smartphones.

6 major US intelligence and military organizations have issued an advisory against using Huawei mobiles, as they fear that data is being leaked to Chinese servers.

Since 2014, Huawei hasn’t been awarded any US Govt. contract due to the same reasons.

Last month, Australia too banned Chinese companies from participating in 5G trials in their country, and the reason mentioned was security threats.

Anti-China Move By Indian Govt.

India has been apprehensive and cautious regarding the involvement of Chinese firms in developing telecom infrastructure in the country.

A few years back, Huawei was accused of hacking into BSNL towers and stealing sensitive information. A team of National Security Council Secretariat, Intelligence Bureau, Union home ministry was formed to investigate the issue.

At a time when Chinese brands are dominating the Indian smartphone market, China has already issued threats of a trade war over some policy issues.

On the other hand, the Indian Govt. has already imposed anti-dumping laws on 90+ Chinese products, and banned IMEI-less Chinese smartphones.

Recently, the Home Ministry asked all defense personnel to delete Chinese apps; and Military has claimed that Chinese hackers are stealing data from Whatsapp groups.

Do you think that by not inviting Chinese companies for 5G rollout, Indian Govt. has insulted China?
