BSNL Fibre Broadband Offers Calls and Data

As Jio is getting ready for its JioFiber broadband launch later in the year, the state-run BSNL is ramping up with its fibre broadband service. The telecom company has now added data and voice service to its fibre broadband network. The new service would now be available with speeds up to 100 Mbps.

The BSNL Fibre Broadband has been built on Optical Fibre Network Technology which is a host of the value-added services from the Next Generation Network (NGN) Switches. The new addition of data and calling is a first-of-its-kind service in India.

BSNL Fibre Broadband: New Services

The broadband service will operate at speeds up to 100 Mbps along with calling capabilities. BSNL has claimed that the new service will provide ultra-clear voice services with undistorted voice call facility. As of now, BSNL is the only telecom offering this service in the country.

Among the other services, BSNL will also provide special features as a part of the new addition. The new features will include video conferencing bandwidth on demand, video surveillance facility, online games and videos on demand.

Plans, Landline Facilities & Free SIM Cards

The broadband plans range from Rs 249 to Rs 1,999. As a part of the launch, BSNL is now offering three free SIM cards with unlimited free calling. The connections will also come with free 1GB data per day for those customers registering with BSNL’s Fibre Broadband under the Rs 1,199 plan.

The new services of BSNL fibre broadband have been rolled out in select circles only. They will soon be launched in other circles in a phased manner.

Coming to the landline service, the state-run company will offer the fibre network with voice services, data and video communications, irrespective of any distance and location.

Airtel’s New Rs 219 Prepaid Plan With A Special Benefit

Airtel has launched a new Rs 219 plan with unlimited calling, free SMS and free 39.2GB data. The new plan is a special plan and is an upgrade over the Rs 199 plan. It offers all the same benefits as Rs. 199 plan, but it comes with an added benefit.

The new prepaid tariff plan of Rs 219 will offer unlimited calling (STD, Local and National Roaming), 1.4GB high-speed data per day, free 100 SMS every day for 28 days. Additionally, it will come with an option to choose unlimited Airtel Hello Tunes.

The new Rs 219 Airtel plan comes with all the same benefits as the Rs 199 plan, but it allows the users to set a Hello Tune for free.

When compared, Reliance Jio already offers the service for free on all the Jio plans. On a whole, the new Rs 219 feels like more of a gimmick where the company is charging an extra amount just for Hello Tunes which is not a particularly useful feature.
