BSNL Launches Rs 99 Unlimited Plan; Says 4G Rollout By March!

BSNL Launches New Rs 99 Unlimited Plan

Concerned with rising competition, and the introduction of sub-Rs 100 prepaid plans by Airtel and Jio, BSNL has also launched unlimited pre-paid plans for Rs 99.

Besides, BSNL has decided to withdraw 7 popular pre-paid plans as well, the details of which we will soon share.

Rs 99 Unlimited Plan by BSNL

Targeting Calcutta region, BSNL has launched a new Rs 99 plan for prepaid users, which will allow them unlimited voice calls for 26 days, even while in roaming pan-India. Only Mumbai and Delhi circles are not covered under free roaming.

The same unlimited voice calls for 90 days can be availed for Rs 319.

Data hasn’t been included in these plans. For data and voice, BSNL has already launched Rs 149 plan, wherein 300 MB of data per day, along with 30 minutes of voice calling are provided every day for 30 days.

Recently, BSNL also launched Rs 1099 unlimited voice calls and data plan for 84 days; and Rs 999 plan for unlimited voice calling, and 1 GB per day for a year.

7 Prepaid Plans Withdrawn

At the same time, BSNL has decided to discontinue 7 prepaid plans.

These are the Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) and combo STV plans, launched in the last 12 months.

The plans which have been withdrawn are:

  1. STV plan of Rs 398
  2. STV plan of Rs 629
  3. STV plan of Rs 2,399
  4. STV plan of Rs 821
  5. STV plan of Rs 1,949
  6. Prepaid Combo STV plan of Rs 3,099
  7. Prepaid Combo STV plan of Rs 1,402

In a statement, BSNL has confirmed that users won’t be able to recharge or avail any benefit from these above 7 STV and combo plans now.

BSNL Confident Of 4G Launch In March!

While announcing the new Rs 99 prepaid unlimited plan, Calcutta Telephones CGM SP Tripathi expressed confidence that BSNL will be able to roll out 4G as soon by March, in Calcutta circle.

He said,

“We expect spectrum in the 2,100 MHz band within days and equipment is also ready,” BSNL plans to launch 4G services via 650 off towers across the city.

For the Calcutta circle, BSNL is expecting revenues to the tune of Rs 510 crore to Rs 550 crore and expected losses at about Rs 350 crore.
