Contents

1. The Biggest Startup In The World

With an investment of Rs. 1,50,000 crore, Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani termed Jio as the biggest startup in the world, in March 2016.

“It (Jio) is one of the largest transformational green-field digital initiatives anywhere in the world with an investment of over Rs 150,000 crore,” said Mukesh Ambani.

2. Jio Added 6 Lakh Subscribers Every Day Since Its Launch

Ever since its nation-wide launch on 5 September, Reliance Jio has added 6 lakh subscribers on a daily average. This translates to an addition of 1000 subscribers every minute.

“Credit Suisse in its last report had mentioned that Reliance Jio can reach 40 million by end of FY17 and other analyst firms had given way lower estimates. This is record of sorts,” said a source.

3. The Fastest Growing Telco In India

It took Airtel 12 years to reach 50 million subscribers mark, whereas Vodafone and Idea did it in 13 years each. On the other hand, Jio did it in just 83 days!

“Jio continues to be the fastest growing company in the world and has crossed 50 million subscribers in record 83 days,” the sources pointed out.

4. The Fastest Growing Customer-Facing Company

By adding 6 lakh subscribers daily, Reliance Jio became the fastest growing customer-facing company competing against the likes of WhatsApp, Facebook, and Skype.

“Beating industry estimates, the company has signed up an average of 6 lakh subscribers a day, which is a globally unprecedented feat for any customer-facing company including the likes of WhatsApp, Facebook and Skype,” the source mentioned.

5. Jio Has 5x 4G Subscribers Than The Largest Indian Telco

Jio is not only the first 4G only telecom operator in the country, but has also added more than 5 times the 4G subscribers of the leading telecom operator in the country- Airtel.

Airtel has around 10 million subscribers whereas Idea has only 3 million 4G users. This takes Jio miles ahead of its arch rivals in terms of 4G subscribers.

Jio had earlier planned to acquire 100 million subscribers by the end of 2016, but owing to the slowdown in its user acquisition rate it might miss its 100 Mln target.

Many blame the poor 4G internet speed and call failures on the Jio network for this slowdown in the addition of new subscribers, but Jio doesn’t want to give up on its target yet. It has recently started the home delivery of Jio SIMs, but how successful would this be is a matter of fact.
