BSNL has certainly missed the 4G race, as other telcos have raced  ahead and have almost snatched the market from them. But, it seems that they won’t miss the 5G battle.

In an interesting development, it has been revealed that BSNL will now launch 5G on the same very date when it is actually launched globally.

This means that they will be the first to launch 5G services in India!

BSNL Will Be First To Launch 5G Services!

The state-run telecom company has been working on its 5G services for a long period of time, and is expected to roll out the next-generation ultra-high-speed telecom services soon.

The 5G services will have India and a global launch together; which means that they will be the first to launch such services in India.

BSNL Chief General Manager Anil Jain said, “BSNL will launch 5G services the same day as their launch globally,”

BSNL has already been working together with international vendors like Nokia, Coriant and ZTE to build its 5G technology network in the country. The public telecom company is aiming to unveil its 5G consumer services starting 2020.

5G Mobile Ecosystem

BSNL has already been a late-comer in terms of adoption of 3G and 4G technologies. With the commercial launch of 5G in India, its important that the 5G enabled smartphones are also available.

Recently BSNL and Japan’s NTT subsidiary Virgo Corporation signed a MoU to work on a 5G test bed together. The country will have to develop a complete end-to-end 5G mobile ecosystem to adopt the next-gen telecom services.

Partnership With Nokia & Coriant

Last year BSNL partnered with Nokia to use its global experience on 5G-related industry initiatives.

The company then signed an agreement with mobile routing solutions company Coriant to study and deploy the 5G-based industrial internet applications. Coriant has been helping the public company to re-work on the areas as waste management, healthcare and education.

5G Services Can Be Made Immediately Available

BSNL has already acquired the airwaves in the premium 700 Mhz band from the Department of Telecom (DoT) to launch its 5G services along with 4G and VoLTE services.

The DoT panel recently claimed that the airwaves in the 700 Mhz can be made immediately available to run the 5G services in the country.

2 GB Additional Data For Every Plan!

Meanwhile BSNL has decided to add 2GB data to every plan of their users.

The pre-paid combo plans which will get additional 2 GB data are:

Rs 999, Rs 666, Rs 485, Rs 429 and Rs 186.

Besides, 3G Data STV plans of Rs 448, Rs 444, Rs 333, Rs 349 and Rs 187 will also receive additional 2GB data.

All these additional data would be available to BSNL users after June 18th.

This is clearly a counter-attack against Jio’s 1.5 GB additional data for every subscriber, called Double Dhamaka. Now, Jio is even offering 4.5 GB per day, for just Rs 299.

We will keep you updated!
