Mobile Wallpaper download has become one of the most popular activity that Indians carry out on their mobile phones. Wallpaper downloads on mobile witnessed 300 percent rise and reach 75 million downloads in 2012.
Airtel Mobitude 2012, one of the largest consumer survey reaching over 186 million mobile users revealed that Indians are increasingly using their mobile phones for downloading wallpapers, listening to music and following their favorite Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities.

Highlights of Airtel Mobitude 2012 Survey
- Kolaveri Di still is the most popular song downloaded by Indian Mobile users. Current Worldwide rage, “Gangnam Style” remains far behind.
- Katrina Kaif is the most popular female celebrity based on image downloads on Mobile. Shahrukh Khan leads the Male Celebrity charts. The popularity is based on number of Celebrity images downloaded by mobile users in India. Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are the other female celebrities who are quite popular with mobile users.
- Here is an interesting fact, Southern superstar Trisha’s imagery downloads are 3 times more than all the top 5 Bollywood male stars put together.
- Kim Kardashian again leads the Hollywood celebrity charts
- Chikni Chameli is the most downloaded song followed by Gun Gun Guna
- Most downloaded video rank goes to Abhi Abhi of Jism 2
- The all time classic movie, Sholay still is the favourite among “Airtel Audio Talkies”
- Games inspired by Bollywood and Hollywood movies are the current rage. Agneepath, Spiderman & Agent Vinod games topped the charts.
With 3G becoming mainstream and smartphone growing fiercely in India, Mobile TC usage jumped 65 percent as compared to last year. IPL viewership on mobile grew by 75%. Among the favorite sports personalities, Yuvraj Singh tops the chart. One of the reasons why Yuvi dethroned the crowd favourite this year was due to his triumph over cancer and his return to international cricket.
According to the survey, Mobile Internet usage is maximum between 10pm and 11pm and Google is the most visited site on Indian mobile phones.
