Top 10 SUVs In India: Tata Nexon Is #1 SUV; Beats Creta, Seltos, Brezza With Record 127% Growth In Sales! (Check Full List)

Auto sales reports for the month of May are out. 

Unsurprisingly, SUVs are getting more and more popular among buyers.

Meanwhile the demand for hatchbacks and sedans are on the decline.

1. Tata Nexon – 14,614 Units

This was the best-selling SUV in the country for the month.

Tata Motors sold 14,614 units of the sub-4 meter SUV in May 2022 as against 6,439 units in the same month last year.

It registered a year-on-year sales growth of 126.96%.

It is now India’s second best-selling model in the list of top selling passenger vehicles.

2. Hyundai Creta – 10,973 Units

Hyundai sold 10,973 Creta’s last month as against 7,527 in May 2021, registering a YoY sales growth of 45.78%.

3. Maruti Vitara Brezza – 10,312 Units

It comes in at third having sold 10,312 units this May.

The sub-4 meter SUV registers a YoY sales growth of 289.43%.

The carmaker is set to launch the new Brezza on June 30 which will hopefully generate more sales.

4. Tata Punch – 10,241 Units

This is the second Tata product in the top 10 list.

Standing at 4th, the Punch reported total sales of 10,241 units last month.

5. Mahindra Bolero – 8,767 Units

The hugely popular rugged SUV recorded a massive YoY sales growth of 149.27%

It sold 8,767 units in May 2022 as against 3,517 units in the same month last year.

6. Hyundai Venue – 8,300 Units

Hyundai sold 8,300 units of the Venue in May 2022 as against 4,840 units in the same month last year.

7. Kia Sonet – 7,899 Units

Kia sold 7,899 units of the Sonet last month as against 6,627 units in May 2021.

8. Kia Seltos – 5,953 Units

Kia’s first India offering comes in at number 8 with total sales of 5,953 units in May 2022.

This is a 39% growth YoY from the 4,277 units sold in May 2021.

9. Mahindra XUV700 – 5,069 Units

This has been an instant hit, offering buyers everything they would want in an XUV. 

10. Mahindra XUV300 – 5,022 Units

This model saw an astounding YoY growth of 1901%, having sold just 251 units in May 2021.
