Most Popular Tata Motors Car
Tata Motors posted a total of 39,981 units in the month of February including 2,846 electric vehicles.
Its ICE lineup saw a YoY volume growth of 38.91% while the EVs registered a massive growth of 478.46%.
The Nexon was the brand’s most sold model in its domestic portfolio.
It was also the fifth highest sold passenger car in India.
SUV Ranks
Coming to the SUV standings, the Nexon sold a total of 12,259 units last month as against 7,929 units the same period last year.
Rival Hyundai Venue finished second in the SUV table with sales of 10,212 units against 11,224 units in Feb 2021.
Hyundai Creta was the third most sold SUV last month with 9,606 units against 12,428 units last year.
Rounding out the list are the Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Both recorded more than 9,000 unit sales apiece in February.
New Nexon Variants Added
Tata Motors had recently announced that the Nexon had hit the three-lakh production milestone from its Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
In celebration, the company added 4 new variants: the Z+ (P), XZA+ (P), XZ+ (HS) & XZA+ (HS).
The Nexon was introduced in late 2017 and it received a comprehensive facelift in early 2020.
It boasts of a stellar Global NCAP safety rating of five stars.
It is currently priced between Rs. 7.39 lakh and Rs. 13.74 lakh.
Overall Passenger Car Sales, Rankings
Total overall car sales in India in February was 1,29,052 units, down 4.60% from 1,35,271 units sold in February 2021.
Maruti Suzuki once again led the charts with 7 of its models while Hyundai and Tata Motors contributed 2 units and 1 unit each.
Maruti Suzuki Swift was the best selling car with 19,202 units sold, down 5.24% compared to 20,264 units sold in February 2021.
At No. 2 was the DZire sedan with 17,438 units sold, a growth of 46.53% from the 11,901 units sold in February 2021.
WagonR was the third best-selling model last month, having sold 14,669 units.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno was at No. 4 with sales of 12,570 units- a decline of 37.37% from 20,070 units sold in February 2021.
Tata Nexon is at number 5 with sales growth of 54.61% YoY to 12,259 units, up from 7,929 units sold in February 2021.
Ranked 6th and 7th are the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Alto
Ertiga sales increased 19.18% to reach 11,649 units.
Alto sales registered a negative growth, having sold 11,551 units from 16,919 units in February 2021.
Hyundai Venue is at no 8, having sold 10,212 units. This is a decline from 11,224 units sold last year.
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio at No. 9 with sales growth of 59.25% selling 9,896 units this February.
The Hyundai Creta rounds out the list at number 10, having sold 9,606 units.
