What Happened

This happened in Bihar, where several locals from the Lakhisarai area held a protest for around 40 hours demanding to stop ten trains at Barahiya Station.

They set up camp on railway tracks in order to stop the movement of several trains.

As a result, hundreds of trains on the Howrah-Delhi rail line had to be cancelled for around 24 hours and over a 100 had to be diverted.

Demanding Halts At Station

The District Magistrate of Lakhisarai, Sanjay Kumar said that a lot of people sat on the tracks at the station.

They were protesting that a number of express trains had no stoppage in Barahiya and demanded scheduled halts for the convenience of local commuters.

Here’s the kicker.

To Revive The Rasgulla Business

Bahariya is a city known for its famous rasgullas with more than 200 rasgulla shops in the town and people arriving from outside especially for the treat.

The non-stopping of trains had severely affected the sweets business, especially during the pandemic.

Happy Ending

Fortunately the protest was finally called off after concerned officials assured the stoppage of an express train at the particular station within a fortnight.

The people were also assured that the train would remain at the station for 60 minutes.
