Elon Musk’s Tweet Takes Twitter By Storm
A prolific user of Twitter himself, said that he has been critical of the social media platform and its policies of late. The company is undermining democracy by failing to adhere to free speech principles said Elon Musk.
A day before, he put out a tweet wherein he asked the users if they believed Twitter adheres to the principle of free speech. After the poll, the results showed that almost 70 per cent voted “no”.
On Friday, he urged everyone to vote wisely as the consequences of this poll shall be important.
There are users who feel that their views are suppressed on platforms such as Twitter, Meta Platform’s Facebook and Alphabet-owned Google’s YouTube and hence the possibility of a technology company by Elon Musk which shall position itself as champions of free speech can hope to draw many users.
No Mainstream Alternate For Free Speech
There have been companies like Donald Trump’s Truth Social, Twitter competitors Gettr and Parler and video site Rumble who have claimed to champion the free speech, however no such company has come close to matching the reach and popularity of the mainstream platforms so far.
