Video, Voice Call Via WhatsApp Web? This Big Update Coming Up For Billions Of Users!

For all its Web and Desktop users, voice and video calling features are being rolled out by WhatsApp.

Since it is a phased rollout, it means that in the coming days, the upcoming calling features shall be available to everyone, if not already. The report comes from tipster Mukul Sharma and was first reported by 91Mobiles

For a while now, the web/desktop calling features is being tested by WhatsApp. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform, in October 2020, announced for the first time the calling features for web users. In the last year, the same features were rolled out for select few beta users. The much-awaited voice and video calling features are rolling out for all users, suggested the report.

Other Video Calling Platforms To Get Run For Their Money

For the last several years, the video and voice calling features are available on the mobile app. Other video calling platforms like Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet shall face tough competition from the messaging app once it gets the calling features on web and desktop versions added. Also, according to some reports, the messaging platform is working on a group call feature for its web and desktop users. 

How to make video/voice calls via WhatsApp Web

There is no clear announcement regarding the roll out the voice and video calling feature for web and desktop users by WhatsApp.

In order to access these features, users will have to update the WhatsApp Web and Desktop once these features are available.

Following are the steps to make calls via web :

Step 1: Download the WhatsApp app or head over to the WhatsApp web.

Step 2: Scan the QR code to open a WhatsApp account

Step 3: Open the chat of the contact you would like to make a call to.

Step 4: Click on the voice or video call icon on the top-right corner of the screen.
