They say necessity is the mother of all innovations. And at present the only necessity Meta (Previously Facebook) has is that of staying on top of the social media game. For remaining at the top the only key in today’s era is that of constant innovation. With that spirit, Meta is tinkering with Facebook nowadays.

Now you can hide your Profile Photo, Last Seen, Status Updates from selected users

According to reports, WhatsApp is testing a feature to let users hide their contact details, including profile pictures, last seen, and status updates from selected contacts. The messaging app was recently spotted testing the same feature for the web version of the app. This means that users will be able to hide their profile picture and be last seen using WhatsApp web as well. At the same time, it should be noted that the feature is being rolled out to Android and iOS versions at first.

At present, users have the option of displaying the last seen, profile picture, status info to “everybody”, “nobody” and “my contacts only”. Once this new feature is launched, users will get the “My contacts except” option. Once this feature is enabled, you will be able to hide your contact info from the selected people.

For example, if you don’t want your professional contacts to see your profile picture, last seen or status updates, you can exclude them from the list and share your updates with the rest of the contacts. At present beta testers cannot see and choose “My Contacts Except” on WhatsApp Web/Desktop, even if the feature “My Contacts Except” is already enabled for their WhatsApp account. It should be noted that the feature is currently under development and there is no information about whether the feature would be released to the public.

Soon, Group Admins will be able to delete any message in the group

At the same time, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that lets group admins delete a message for everyone in the group. As per the sources, when the message gets deleted it displays a message saying that “it was removed by an admin”. Notably, every admin will have the right to delete messages for everyone. The feature is yet to launch for beta testers. This is another important feature that could be rolled out in 2022.

This feature is useful in cases if someone posts something which is against the purpose of the group and is irrelevant or hurtful to other members of the group or society at large.
