Apple Will Replace iPhone Batteries For Free! Which iPhone Models Are Eligible?
There are cases of some iPhone batteries being impacted and the company has announced that the batteries shall be in then be changed for free.
However, there are certain steps to be followed by the users in order to get their batteries replaced, and after following them a decision of whether or not the replacement is to be done will be decided. Here is all you need to know:
The Issue & How It Is Affecting iPhone 11 users
Some of the iPhone 11 series handsets are reflecting wrong battery health and same has been identified by Apple.
The phones which are affected by the bug are facing unexpected battery drain behaviour. There are cases of reduced peak performance capability in small number of instances.
iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max , all the models in the iPhone 11 series are affected by this.
How To Fix The Problem?
In order to recalibrate the maximum capacity and peak performance capability of the battery, Apple has released a fix for the bug in the iOS 14.5 roll out.
Go to Settings app > General > Software update > Download and Install.
A message suggesting the battery health reporting system being recalibrated can be seen once the device is updated to iOS 14.5.
The process of figuring out whether or not the battery needs to be replaced or not takes weeks to be found out as the recalibration of maximum capacity and peak performance capability happens during regular charge cycles which take time, hence whether or not once’s battery shall be replaced for free, one must wait. In case of unsuccessful recalibration of the battery health reporting system, a message reading “Recalibration of the battery health reporting system was not successful. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the battery free of charge to restore full performance and capacity” shall be seen by the user.
