BSNL Will Fire 88,000 Employees Due To Privatisation? BJP MP Calls BSNL Employees As ‘Traitors’

BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde, who hails from Karnataka has announced that 88,000 BSNL employees will be fired.

He described BSNL employees as traitors.

This is a big, controversial statement from an elected leader.

BSNL Employees Are Traitors, 88,000 Will Be Fired

During an event held at Uttra Kannada, BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde declared that 88,000 BSNL employees will be fired, since privatization will eventually happen.

He called BSNL employees as traitors, who are not helping the beleaguered state carrier to revive.

He said, “BSNL has a system filled with traitors. I am using accurate words to describe them.”

Just for information, a traitor is described as “a person who betrays someone or something, such as a friend, cause, or principle.”

He accused BSNL employees of being lazy, incompetent, and blamed them for the state-carrier’s misfortune.

He said, “The government has given money, people require services and there is infrastructure. Yet, they (BSNL employees) don’t work. PM talks of Digital India, has provided funds and technology. Yet, they are not willing to work,”

As per the MP, privatization is the only solution for BSNL, and once that happens, 88,000 employees will be fired.

Why BJP MP’s Statement Is Controversial?

Last year, Govt had declared that BSNL and MTML won’t be privatized, and they will be provided with Rs 29,000 crore revival plan, and both BSNL, MTNL will be merged.

In January, more than 80,000 employees from BSNL retired, which was as per the revival plan.

Although BSNL is earning money now, and was able to add users, they failed to provide May salary to their employees, and the employees who have already opted for VRS have slapped legal notice on the Govt for not providing them with VRS benefits as promised.

Amidst these developments, the statement by a BJP MP on BSNL is indeed controversial, and full of loopholes.
