A good news for Indians living in Dubai and the northern Emirates – you will now be able to get your passports issued in a single day! This has been announced by the Consulate General of India.

He was speaking at the NRI day celebrations at the consulate. 

However, there are a few rules that need to be followed to get your passport within the same day.

Indian Expats In Dubai And Northern Emirates To Get Passport Issued In The Same Day

The consulate in Dubai has announced that the Indian expats and the northern Emirates will be able to get passports issued on a single day. The Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul announced that the Consulate will start issuing tatkal passports that will be issued in emergency cases. 

The Consul General said, “We already issue tatkal passports in 24 hours. We are going one step beyond that. We are going to issue tatkal passport on the same day if it is applied for before 12 noon. By evening, we can issue the tatkal passport.”

This announcement was made by Vipul during the celebrations of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Non Resident Indian-NRI Day) at the consulate

Rules For Issuing Passport In The Same Day For Indian Expats

As per the Consul General, this facility of obtaining  a passport (a tatkal passport) on the same day can be used if the application for one is submitted before noon at the office of BLS International. There will be 

BLS International is the outsourced service provider for Indian passport and visa applications in Al Khaleej Centre, Bur Dubai. 

As per Vipul, as much as 850 passport applications are received daily in this mission. In the last year, about 200,000 passports and over 2500 emergency certificates or one-way travel documents over 2,800 police clearance certificates and provided 72,000 attestation services including registration of births and deaths.
