As per TRAI’s latest numbers coming in, Reliance Jio is still #1 in 4G download speed. Infact, they have shown immense improvement in the overall speed, and now, they are 2X times better than Airtel.

Meanwhile in a direct response, Airtel has now launched a special Rs 97 combo plan, which gives 1.5 GB of 4G data, along with voice calling and SMS.

Is this enough from Airtel?

4G Speed Ranking: Jio Is Still #1!

In the month of August, Jio users experienced 4G connectivity at a speed of 22.3 Mbps, which is more than double of what Airtel users experienced.

Airtel was able to provide 4G at 10 Mbps speed, as per TRAI’s latest survey report based on MySpeed portal.

Vodafone slightly improved their 4G download speed to 6.7 Mbps, while Idea is stuck at 6.2 Mbps for the same period.

However, in the Upload data speed ranking, Idea Cellular has once again surprised everyone by bagging #1 position. With 5.9 Mbps upload speed, Idea provides the fastest service in this domain.

While Jio users experienced an upload speed of 4.9 Mbps, Airtel was able to provide an upload speed of 4.4 Mbps. They both improved their respective upload speeds, compared to July.

While download speed is important when the user is consuming content – videos, images, messenger apps, and other websites. Meanwhile, upload speed is important when the user is sharing or uploading content.

Airtel: Rs 97 Prepaid Combo Launched

As if directly responding to their dismal performance in the 4G speed ranking, Airtel has launched a new pre-paid combo deal which takes on Jio’s sub-Rs100 recharge plan, heads on.

Airtel’s new Rs 97 combo offer provides 1.5 GB 4G data, 350 minutes of voice calls (local, STD and roaming). 200 SMSes are also bundled in.

The validity of the plan is 28 days.

Interestingly, Airtel’s newest Rs 97 prepaid plan directly challenges their own Rs 99 prepaid combo pack, which offers 2 GB data along with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day.

On the other hand, Jio’s sub-Rs 100 prepaid combo plans beat all expectations. While Jio’s Rs 98 combo plan offers 2GB for 28 days along with unlimited voice calls and 300 SMSes; their Rs 99 combo plan offers 500 MB per day for 28 days, which means total of 14 GB of data along with unlimited voice calls and 300 SMSes.
