Pocophone from Xiaomi is all set to challenge premium smartphones from Apple, OnePlus and Samsung.
Xiaomi recently launched its sub-brand POCO aimed at helping the Chinese brand make a mark in the flagship market. Xiaomi has been planning to launch premium smartphones in the country, and POCO is the answer to it.
The company aims to make flagships affordable, just like it offers top-end mid range and low range smartphones at value-for-money price points.
With disruptive pricing, the company is now planning to expand aggressively in all the segments with POCO starting with the entry premium sub-30,000 category.

The device has been leaked online at the FCC certification and Bluetooth SIG certification.
Design
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will come with a metal built on the out with a dual camera setup at the back. The smartphone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner below the vertically placed camera.
Display
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will come with a 5.99 inch IPS LCD 19:9 elongated display with a screen resolution of 1080×2246 pixels and a density of 416 ppi. It has a display notch at the top.
Hardware
The smartphone will come with the latest flagship processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 clocking at 2.8 GHz coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard memory.
Storage
Apart from a 128GB version, the smartphone is expected to launch in storage and RAM configuration options as well.
Software
Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box based MIUI 9.5 and Android 9.0 Pie is expected with MIUI 10 soon as well.
Camera
Up front, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will have a 20 megapixel shooter and at the back it will come with a rear dual camera setup. The dual camera will comprise of a 12 megapixel primary lens coupled with a 5 megapixel secondary depth lens.
The smartphone can shoot 4K Ultra HD videos and will have AI-powered features. The AI will help to shoot pictures under different lighting conditions and scenes.
Connectivity
The smartphone will have the standard set of connectivity features like Wi-Fi dual-band, Bluetooth v5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and a Type-C USB port. It will support all major 4G bands with 4G VoLTE.
Battery
The smartphone will get backed by a large 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support.

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will launch in India at a price below or around Rs 30,000. The smartphone will primarily target smartphones like OnePlus 6, Asus Zenfone 5Z and Honor 10. The smartphone will be priced in the entry-premium category.
Xiaomi has it own Mi 8 priced in the same category, though it’s still awaiting a global launch.

The dates are now official, and Xiaomi smartphone was earlier expected to launch in October. But POCO’s Twitter handle has has confirmed that POCOphone F1 is launching on August 22. With festive period ahead, the company can take advantage of the pre-festive sales.
In spite of phenomenal sale records, Xiaomi has done no noteworthy sale in the premium category in India till now.

Looking at how Xiaomi has big plans for its sub-brand POCO, the new company is expected to follow an OnePlus-like model. POCO will make flagships with top-end specs at affordable price points, just like OnePlus.
Xiaomi is growing at a tremendous rate globally. The company has steadily expanded in the European and American continents. With disruptive pricing, the company is now planning to expand aggressively in all the segments.
