Despite on-going visa issues, and anti-immigration propaganda fueled by Trump Administration, dominance of Indians in America’s corporate and educational sector is showing no signs of stopping.

As per latest reports coming in, it has been found that Indians have invested $18 billion in US last year, and created staggering 1.1 lakh jobs all over the country.

Whereas, now, Indians have become second largest student community in USA, only after China.

Is Trump Govt. taking notes of these numbers?

1.1 Lakh Jobs Created in US by Indians!

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has just released their annual report, titled “Indian Roots, American Soil”, and some interesting numbers have come out.

In the last one year, Indians have made total investment of $18 billion in USA, and generated 113,000 jobs across various industries.

The report highlights state-wise job creation and investments done by 100+ Indian companies in USA and Puerto Rico, in the last one year.

As per the report, 100 companies spread across 50 states of USA, 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico right now employ 113,423 employees, and have contributed $147 million towards corporate social responsibility or CSR activities, and $588 million as research and development expenditures in various sectors, besides making massive $18 billion of investments in business and research.

The top 5 states were maximum jobs were generated by Indians are:

  1. New Jersey: 8,572 jobs
  2. Texas: 7,271 jobs
  3. California: 6,749 jobs
  4. New York:5,135 jobs
  5. Georgia: 4,554 jobs

Whereas, the top 5 states were maximum investment has been done by Indian companies are:

  1. New York: $1.57 billion
  2. New Jersey: $1.56 billion
  3. Massachusetts: $931 million
  4. California: $542 million
  5. Wyoming: $435 million

Hence, on an average, $187 million was invested in every state, by Indian companies.

87% of the Indian companies present in USA plan to hire more in the coming days, while 85% of the Indian companies will continue with their investments.

Indians Are America’s 2nd Largest Student Community

Institute of International Education (IIE) has just released their ‘Open Doors’ report, which says that Indian right now account for 17.3% of all International students, making us the second largest group of International students in the USA.

For the academic year 2016-17, total of 186,267 students from India were studying in the USA, which is second only to China, which has 305,755 students in USA.

If we talk about growth of students, then Indians have clearly beaten China.

While inflow of Indian students registered a mind-blowing growth rate of 12.3%, Chinese students grew by 6.8% in the same period.

Indian students have collectively contributed $6.5 billion to the US economy, in last one year.

  • Undergraduate: 11.8%
  • Graduate students: 56.3%
  • Others: 1.2%
  • OPT (Optional Practical Training): 30.7%
