Honor Holly 4 Plus Launched In India; Will Compete With Xiaomi Redmi Y1
The Honor Holly 4 Plus carries almost the same specifications as the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi Y1.
Honor, the sub-brand of smartphone maker Huawei, has launched an upgraded version of their month old Holly 4 smartphone in the country. The new smartphone, Honor Holly 4 Plus will come with a number of updates on board.
The company has confirmed that the new Honor Holly 4 Plus will be an offline exclusive device, to be sold via Honor Partner Stores.

Honor Holly 4 Plus – Specifications And Features
The Holly 4 Plus features a 12MP primary camera with 1.25-micron pixels, which will capture improved low-light images.
Design And Build
The Honor Holly 4 Plus will come with an 8.2mm metal body. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back below the camera. A 3.5mm headphone jack sits at the top. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the right side of the phone.
Display
The smartphone features a 5.5 inch HD display with a 1280 x 720 pixels screen resolution, and a 2.5D curved glass on top.
Hardware
Honor Holly 4 Plus will be powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM.
Software
The smartphone will run Huawei’s own customized EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Storage
Honor Holly 4 Plus will come with 32GB of storage on board. It can be further expanded up to 128 GB via an external memory card.
Camera
The device will sport a single 12 megapixel rear shooter with a 1.25-micron pixels sensor, which achieves ultra-fast autofocus within 0.3 sec. It supports varied shooting modes like slow-motion, time-lapse and PRO camera set up. Up front, there’s an 8 megapixel wide-angle selfie-shooter with beauty modes.
SIM Support And Connectivity
Honor Holly 4 Plus will support two sims with 4G VoLTE. It also features Bluetooth v4.1, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, OTG and a USB v2.0 port among other connectivity features.
Battery
The device will house a 4,000mAh battery which claims to offer15 hours of web surfing on 4G data.
Price And Variants
The new Honor Holly 4 Plus will retail at a price of Rs. 13,999/- with three color options of choose from – Grey, Gold and Silver.
Availability
The smartphone will be available at Honor-Partnered retail stores across the country starting today.
Honor Holly 4 Plus Faces Tough Competition
Along with the Honor Holly 4 Plus, the Redmi Y1 was also launched in the country. These two have almost similar specs, though they are being offered at very different price points.

Initial Thoughts
The specifications of the Holly 4 Plus put it squarely in the budget segment. As we can see from the comparison above, the latest offering from Xiaomi bests the Holly 4 Plus in all departments except battery.
Still, the Honor smartphone is priced way higher than Xiaomi’s smartphone. In fact, its price pits the Holly 4 Plus against Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4, which offers way better specs.
So, unless Huawei lower the price to a more justifiable level, the Holly 4 Plus is going to have a tough time moving off the shelves. Since, it is going to be an offline-exclusive smartphone, it all depends on the company’s sales and promotion strategies.
