Youtube Removed 13 Lakh+ Videos Uploaded By Indians: Maximum For Any Country!
A lot of times, you come across a video on the online video sharing and social media platform YouTube that is offensive or makes you feel uncomfortable, you can flag such videos or let the platform know.
And yes, it will be notified to the video platform, in a way that the said video could have action(s) taken against it.
This can be said confidently as the Indian arm of the American giant, YouTube India has reported the removal of 1,324,634 videos from the platform in the country in the April to June 2022 quarter, which is more than two times compared to countries like the United States, Brazil and Indonesia.
YouTube India has taken the lead by a strong figure of removing 1,324,634 videos, followed vaguely by the US, with removal of only 445, 148 videos and Indonesia witnessing a removal of 427,748 videos.
According to Youtube’s Community Guidelines Enforcement Report Q2 2022, of the total videos removed from the Indian platform,
- 30% were to ensure child safety,
- 20% were stripped to avoid violent or graphic content,
- 4.8% were on nudity or sexual content, while
- 11.9% were found out to be harmful or dangerous.
Of all the videos flagged on YouTube India, it was found out that
- 4,195,734 were removed by automated flagging
- A solid 2,56,109 were removed by users, and
- 56,109 were done by individual trusted flaggers.
A Moneycontrol report covering the topic states that members of the trusted flagger programme include individuals, NGOs, and government agencies.
As per the report, most flags against videos on the video platform YouTube were received from India, US, Russia, and South Korea, among others.
