The covid-19 pandemic confined us to our homes, with most of us living our professional and personal lives from our homes.

A new survey has now revealed that 73% of office occupiers want a hybrid model of working for their employees.

73% Office Owners To Adopt Hybrid Working Model

This survey has been conducted by real estate firm CBRE South Asia Pvt Ltd. It states that as the COVID-19 virus seems to have ebbed, more than 73% of office space occupiers in India are considering adopting the hybrid working policy rather than giving complete work from home.

According to the study, the hybrid work model trend has recently arisen as businesses choose flexible working schedules for their staff following the pandemic. The majority of office tenants have highlighted employee health and wellness as the most crucial factor while making it easier for them to return to work.

The CBRE findings titled ‘2022 India Office Occupier Survey’ states, “The flexible working approach is a mix of four patterns that includes just-in-case remote work for specific circumstances, three-plus office days a week, an equal mix of office and remote work, and remote work for three-plus days a week.”

35% Respondents Want More Than Three Office Days Per Week

According to the study, 35% of respondents wanted more than three office days per week, while over 38% stated they would contemplate a balanced workload of office-based and remote work.

The survey also showed that companies aiming to adopt hybrid working practises would choose a “equal mix of office-based and remote work” or “primarily in office.”

According to the report, 62% of Indian respondents plan to build their real estate holdings over the next three years, which will lead to a rise in demand for work from home opportunities.

As part of their flexible portfolio approach, one-third of the respondents also alluded to consolidation in fewer sites and using co-working spaces to accommodate flexible demand.

According to the poll, 52% of participants were open to moving in order to live in ESG-compliant buildings, and 7% were open to moving in spite of having to pay a higher rent.

The report states that  the adoption of Activity-Based Working (ABW), hotdesking, and Targeted Mobility (TM) will all likely continue to gain popularity over the next few years.

Additionally, as ESG principles gain popularity, the office occupiers are also considering sustainability and wellness as part of their plan to hasten their return to work.
