With a valuation of 3 trillion USD in the market, Apple is one of the most valuable companies in the world. Its market capitalization is greater than the GDP of India. As a matter of fact, only four countries in the world have a higher GDP that the market capitalization of Apple.
iPhone SE @ only USD $300
Apple already dominates the smartphone market, however now the tech giant intends to expand itself and walk into the uncharted territory, the territory of lower mid-range smartphone market. If we go by the hearsay, Apple may be planning to launch the next 2022 iteration of its iPhone SE starting from only USD $300.
This news comes from the Investor’s Business Daily, wherein Capital Markets analyst John Donovan said he’s heard rumours that the new 5G-supported iPhone SE 3 (2022) could start at $300. This news turns head because even the current 4G iPhone SE 2 (2020) model starts at $399. As compared to its predecessor SE2, this new model is rumoured to feature a better processor, 5G support and better battery life.
The iPhone 12 Mini, which happens to be Apple‘s cheapest 5G smartphone available, comes for double the rumoured price of SE3. Whereas, the iPhone 13 series which is Apple’s second-generation 5G smartphones starts at $699.
Why the $300 category?
In December 2021, JPMorgan analysts said that Apple wanted its new iPhone to spur a wave of switchers from Android smartphones. In a report to its clients, the investment bank revealed that there are as many as 1.4 billion value-conscious minded users of low to midrange Android phones to switch. Not just that, there are almost 300 million users of older model iPhones.
Moving on to the specifications, it is believed that the iPhone SE 3 (2022) shall be running on the 5G Apple A15 Bionic chipset, the chipset found on the latest iPhone 13 series. When it comes to the design, with a glass front and back with an aluminium chassis, and the signature Touch ID on the home button located on the chin of the device, iPhone SE 3 (2022) will retain the same design as its predecessor. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone SE 3(2022) in its annual Spring Launch Event, which is most likely to start on March 8, 2022, as per the speculations and leak points.
