The richest Indian and the head of Reliance Industries (RIL), Mukesh Ambani has recently bought an ultra-luxury Rolls Royce hatchback that costs a whopping ? 13.14 crore.
It is one of the most expensive car purchases ever in the country, according to Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials.
Officials said that the petrol model of Rolls Royce Cullinan was registered on January 31 by RIL at the Tardeo Regional Transport Office in South Mumbai.
The Whopping Cost Is Due To The Customized Modifications
When the car was first launched in 2018, its base price was ? 6.95 crore. However the substantial increase in the price is due to the customized modifications, said the auto industry experts.
For the 12-cylinder car weighing over 2.5 tonnes and producing 564 BHP power, the “Tuscan Sun” colour has been opted. Also, according to the RTO officials, a special number plate has also been obtained.
The registration of the car is valid till January 30, 2037 and a one-time tax of ? 20 lakh has been paid by RIL. An amount of ? 40,000 has been paid towards road safety tax.
The number plate that ends with “0001” cost almost ? 12 lakh to the chairman and managing director.
Generally, a VIP number costs ? 4 lakh. However, the chosen number in the current series was already taken and hence a new series had to be started for which ? 12 lakh was accrued.
They added that post the permission of the Transport Commissioner, RTO offices can start a new series, however the applicant has to shell out three times the fee specified for a regular number.
Features of Rolls Royce Cullinan
Being the third Cullinan model in the Ambani/RIL garage, the Rolls Royce Cullinan which was launched in India in 2018. This hatchback is capable of taking both paved and rough roads.
As per the British manufacturer’s website, Cullinan is the first all-terrain SUV from Rolls-Royce’s stable. The same model, is also driven by some other industrialists and Bollywood celebrities.
There are several high-end luxury cars in the RIL garage. A few years ago, it had procured one of the most sophisticated armoured vehicles for Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani. Besides the latest high-end Morris Garage cars of the Gloster model, the company has also given a BMW for the police personnel deployed for the security of the Ambani family.
