Covid-19 pandemic is reportedly killing innumerable businesses and is resulting into millions of layoffs, leading to horrific unemployment levels, all around the globe.
This case however, doesn’t fit true to the Indian multinational conglomerate company Reliance Industries Ltd’s chairman Mukesh Ambani.
In just a couple of months’ time, Ambani rose from the 7th richest man in the world to 5th and now to 4th.
Yes, Mukesh Ambani is now the 4th richest man in the world, up from 5th richest, in just 2 week’s time.
Mukesh Ambani Beats Europe’s Richest
Mukesh Ambani has surpassed Europe’s wealthiest man, Bernard Arnault of France, to take his position as #4 in the top 5 richest men in the world.
Ambani’s worth has now reached to $80.6 billion, after accumulating $22 billion, just this year.
These reports have been provided by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Thanks to the $22 billion assembled this year, Ambani surpassed the wealth pile of Arnault, as his multinational corporation and conglomerate specializing in luxury goods, Louis Vuitton SE underwent loss due to the pandemic.
Not just this, RIL’s share prices have also terrifically skyrocketed after hitting a low in March of this year, due to over $15 billion investments, as its digital platform and telecom unit attracted billions of investments from giants like Facebook Inc. and Google.
RIL’s Major Activities
Ambani’s deal with petroleum giant BP, worth $1 billion which has been a good contributor to the tycoon’s jump in rankings.
He has been shifting his interests more and more towards the country’s fast-growing digital business.
Just last month, Google Inc. claimed to spend $10 billion in the coming years, to accelerate adoption of digital technologies in India.
