Ministry Of External Affairs Hiring Interns With Rs 10,000 Stipend: Eligibility, Age Limit & More

The internship will start from April 1, 2022.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is inviting applications for an internship as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of independence.

Called the MEA Internship Policy 2022, it is for three months from April till June 2022.

Diversity And Inclusivity

Through the internship the MEA seeks to bring foreign policy closer to the people, attract more focus, ensure better gender inclusivity and diversity in terms of qualifications, domicile and socio-economic status amongst the cohort of interns.

To that end, those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories shall be given priority at different stages in the selection process. 

Open Positions And Duration

It will hire only 75 candidates for the internship in New Delhi.

The last date to apply is February 15.

Candidates will be engaged for a minimum period of 1 month and maximum 3 months.

The internship will start from April 1, 2022.

Pay And Inclusions

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 to cover basic costs. 

Air fare to and from the candidate’s home state or college to Delhi will also be covered by the ministry.

Board and lodging in Delhi has to be arranged by the interns themselves.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university/institution
  • Those who are presently in the final year of their graduation, where an internship is mandatory in the final year
  • Age should not exceed 25 years as on 31 December 2022

Selection

The selection process will be fully online at www.internship.mea.gov.in 

The various stages of applications, scrutiny, selection, allocation of Division, notification, extension and certification will all be managed on a single dedicated portal.

The candidate needs to register on the internship portal and obtain access credentials to participate in the process.

Selection Process 

The process will comprise two stages viz. Preliminary Screening and Personal Interview.

At least 30% of the 75 positions will be filled by women candidates.

Weightage will be based on academic performance assessed by percentage of marks obtained in +2 and graduation exams.

The merit list- separate for male and female candidates- will be announced on February 18.

Those selected will be called for a personal interview via video conferencing between February 22-24.

Activities During Internship

The intern will be introduced to various aspects of the ministry’s functioning, its attached offices, its public interface and its role in aiding Indian citizens.

Subject to prevailing conditions, the intern could also get the opportunity to visit one of the Missions abroad.

Responsibilities

The intern will be given specific work topics by the concerned Head of Division (HOD).

They may be required to conduct research, write reports, analyze evolving developments or carry out any other task entrusted to them by the HOD.

At the end of the internship the intern will have to submit a detailed report on the work they carried out and if required, make a presentation on it.
