IT Companies To Continue Work From Home Policy

Major IT companies have relied on the work from home policy ever since the beginning of the pandemic, when the lockdown was imposed.

And as the rate of COVID-19 infections reduced, the companies showed signs of asking their employees to start working from their work places.

However, these plans will probably fall through, thanks to the Omicron variant

TCS’ revised statement says, “In view of the new COVID-19 variant, we continue to monitor the external environment carefully.” Previously, the company had asked its employees to return to the deputed branches by November 15.

The company had stated that it moving towards its 25 by 25 vision in which only 25% of the workforce will work out of its facilities at any time. In its statement, it said that it will initially ask its associates to return to offices towards the end of CY’21.

TCS, Infosys, HCL To Monitor Changing Health Situation

HCL and Infosys have also agreed on not bringing employees back to the workplaces, given the changing health situations.

Almost 90% of the HCL employees and their families are fully or partially vaccinated and thus the employees are asked to return to the office.

Wipro allowed its employees in the leadership roles to return to the office from early September. In earlier September, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji announced calling employees back to the office.

Wipro has vaccinated over 85 per cent of its global employees with the first dosage, and 50 per cent have been fully vaccinated. Thierry Delaporte, Wipro’s CEO and MD stated at the company’s second-quarter financial results that fully-vaccinated personnel can now work from the company’s India location.

As per the experts at WHO, the Omicron variant spreads faster than the delta variant.
