BSNL Will Launch 4G Across India On This Date; Will Earn Rs 900 Crore In 1st Year!

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has finally announced that they will be rolling out 4G services by  September 2022!

The state-owned telecom operator has also estimated an incremental revenue of about Rs 900 crore in the first year itself!

BSNL To Launch 4G Network By September 2022

It was reported in October that BSNL will be launching 4G within six months or by the next financial year.

BSNL launched its VoLTE services for its 4G network in the South Zone in Coimbatore last year. Later on, the upgraded protocol was expanded to more cities/circles, including Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

BSNL will now be launching 4G services across India by September 2022 and has also given an estimate of an incremental revenue of about Rs. 900 crore in the first year from this rollout, as informed to the Parliament.

Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan said, “BSNL has estimated that with pan-India 4G rollout, an incremental revenue of around Rs 900 crore is expected in the first year from operations.”

No Plans Of Disinvestment of BSNL And MTNL

It was also made clear by the minister that there isn’t any proposal under consideration for the disinvestment of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).

As per the financial statement, the assets of BSNL and MTNL as of September 30, 2021, are worth Rs 1,33,952 crore and Rs 3,556 crore, respectively, and the value of assets has been finalized on a historical cost basis.

When BSNL 4G hits the market, Indian consumers will benefit from reduced congestion due to the 4G networks of the three private operators- Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, and Bharti Airtel.

While its speed may not be on par with the big three, it can have an advantage in terms of coverage throughout the country.

Private operators don’t have similar coverage due to reduced profitability.

We have also reported that TCS has acquired Tejas Networks, a global optical and broadband company that has been creating 4G wireless technologies that can be upgraded to 5G, as we all know.

TCS, the company is investing heavily in this attempt to establish a unique vertical for 4G/5G telecom products. According to sources, ITI collaborated on the development of 4G and 5G technology with Tech Mahindra and TCS.
