Hyundai’s Big Plans For India: These Two Electric Cars Will Be Launched Along With One New 7-Seater MPV (Full Details)

With the economy opening up throughout the world, and demand for goods rising up throughout the world, automakers are also gearing up for higher sales in the upcoming months. Hyundai, a South Korean automaker, has an expansive car lineup in India. It consists of hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and even an EV. However, to further expand its reach among Indian consumers, the manufacturer is coming up with a few more launches in the upcoming days. In 2022, three new Hyundai cars are in the pipeline to launch in the Indian market.

New Hyundai MPV might be named as Stargazer

Hyundai’s upcoming Multi-Purpose Vehicle has been spotted on-road tests in South Korea and Indonesia. The entry-level model has been specifically developed for emerging markets like India, Indonesia, Russia, etc.

According to rumors making rounds in the industry, Hyundai’s new MPV will be named ‘Stargazer.’ The car will be available with two engine options – a 1.5L NA petrol unit and a 1.5L turbo-diesel engine. It will be offered both manual and automatic transmission choices. We expect Hyundai to introduce this new MPV in India in 2022. This car will compete with Mahindra Marazzo and even Maruti Ertiga.

Updated model of Kona will enter India in early 2022

Last year we witnessed Hyundai launch the Kona facelift. It was followed by the Kona EV facelift. In the Indian market, the pre-facelift Kona EV continues to be available in the market, but the updated model will be available in the first half of 2022.

According to reports, the powertrain of the upcoming Kona EV facelift will probably remain unchanged. The current India-specific model comes with a 39.2 kWh, connected to a single electric motor on the front axle (rated at 136 PS/395 Nm). It offers a driving range of up to 305 km and can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 47 minutes via a DC fast charger.

Ioniq will also make the Indian market soon

Hyundai Ioniq 5 was unveiled earlier this year, and the first-ever EV to be built on the brand’s E-GMP architecture. The car will come with two battery options – 72.6 kWh and 58kWh – both available with a choice between single-motor (RWD) and dual-motor (AWD) configurations. According to sources, the Ioniq 5 will arrive next year via the CBU route in limited numbers.
