MG Motors’ New SUV At Rs 9.7 Lakh Can Beat Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos In Price War; But What About Features?

To take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG has launched the all-new Astor in the Indian market. 

The all-new MG Astor is aggressively priced at Rs 9.78 for the base variant, making it cheaper than the Hyundai Creta by around Rs 40,000. 

Launch And Delivery Of All-new MG Astor 

The Hyundai Creta base variant is offered at a price tag of Rs 10.16 lakh while the price of Kia Seltos starts at Rs 9.95 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. 

Soon, MG will start the deliveries for the Astor but, there is no specific date for the delivery. 

According  to the carmaker, around 5,000 units of the Astor will be delivered before the end of the calendar year 2021.

Astor has been launched in India, with introductory prices starting from Rs 9.78 lakh and going up to Rs 16.78 lakh (ex-showroom, India). 

These prices are valid for the 5,000 odd units MG plans to deliver this year. 

All-new MG Astor Features

The ADAS pack prices will be announced at a later date.

MG has always been generous with the feature list, so Astor also gets a similar strategy.

It comes with a long list of first-time features including the Level -2 ADAS or the advanced driver assistance system

The MG Astor’s ADAS offers functions like Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Reversing assist, Lane Keep Assist among others.

Apart from this, MG has also added a physical Artificial Intelligence assistant which sits on the dashboard and even moves its head. 

This assistant is linked to the Internet-based services like Wikipedia, Gaana and more. 

It can also understand Hinglish commands with other tricks in its sleeve like it opens the sunroof when you say “Khul ja sim sim”.

MG Astor Engine Options

The all-new MG Astor is offered in 8 trim levels and is available with two engine options available with the car and both are only petrol options. 

It is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine option and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine option. 

The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine has both manual and automatic transmission. 

While the high-performance 1.3-litre turbocharged engine is only available with an automatic transmission.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine generates a maximum power of 110 PS and is available with both a 5-speed manual and an 8-stepped CVT automatic transmission. 

On the other hand, the more powerful 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine generates a maximum power of 140 PS. 

But, it is only offered with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
