Tata’s Next SUV To Be Priced Rs 6 Lakh? Can It Disrupt SUV Market In India?

What consumer demand, sellers supply. That’s how the economy works. While SUV has become the new love of Indians, manufacturers don’t want to lag in supplying the same. SUVs have become an important part of the portfolio for any automobile manufacturer. And it looks like Tata is preparing to kill the entire competition by offering an SUV just at Rs. 6 Lakhs.

Tata HBX is ready to shock the markets

The SUVs helped Tata to revive itself in the Indian market. The company currently offers SUVs in various segments, but it doesn’t want to limit itself. With HBX the company is looking to create a completely new SUV segment, the micro-SUV segment. This new segment will target the people looking for an SUV-like feel but at more affordable pricing.

The HBX will move forward with Tata’s Impact 2.0 design legacy. Just as the Harrier and Safari, the car will also get sleek eyebrow DRLs with headlamps on the bumper. The car will also get a faux skid plate on the bumper, glossy black grille, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The overall car will resonate with the current car lineup of Tata Motors. The car will also come with the tri-arrow design theme on the interior as well as the exterior.

The HBX will be based on Tata’s ALFA platform, the same platform that has been used in Altroz. As Tata has been giving importance to safety the new HBX is also expected to get a good GNCAP rating as well. The Tata HBX will be powered by a 1.2-liter Revotron engine. We can also expect a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine for this car. The transmission will come up with a five-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.

No compromise of features

The HBX will be adorned with features like rectangular AC vents, floating touchscreen unit, semi-digital instrument cluster, adjustable headrests, premium sound system, and multi-function steering wheel. It will also get a basic version of connected car tech. The car will also have safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD as standard.

HBX might be launched by September end or early October, to encash the market on the festival feat. The price of the car is expected to start from an affordable Rs 6 lakh (on-road price, Mumbai).

So, with so many features at so much competitive price, this car holds the potential to disrupt the market. But will it or not, only time will tell.
