Oyo, Yatra, AirBnB, EMT Launch This Powerful Industry Body To Promote Tourism: Key Features

Members will enjoy access to CHATT resources, programs conducted throughout the year, and prestigious business events.

Airbnb, EaseMyTrip, Oyo Hotels & Homes and Yatra have come together to form a new association, the Confederation of Hospitality, Technology and Tourism Industry or CHATT.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel in a virtual event on Twitter.

Government’s Efforts

He said that as the vaccination drive progresses by the day, it could help get the tourism sector back on its feet.

The govt is working on developing protocols for vaccinated travelers.

Patel lauded the development and said that the govt will continuously provide data regarding hotels and homestays on a single portal, NIDHI or National Integrated Database of Hospitality Industry.

The portal is an effort to digitally empower businesses by the use of technology.

It provides multiple services and features such as Star Classification of hotels, schemes which lend support against the pandemic, and hospitality project approvals which provide financial assistance.

Who And How Will It Help?

The industry body will serve the interests of small and independent accommodation providers who struggle with underrepresentation.

It will also work with the govt to revive the pandemic-battered tourism and hospitality industry.

It will further help the industry’s digital transformation, stimulate domestic tourism, conduct training events, provide access to industry experts and regional leads and perform the role of a “thought leader”.

Members will enjoy access to CHATT resources, programs conducted throughout the year, and prestigious business events.

Plans To Revive Covid-Battered Industry

The association involves big names such as Amanpreet Bajaj- general manager, Airbnb India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan; Nishant Pitti, co-founder & CEO of EaseMyTrip.com; Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Oyo India & Southeast Asia; and Dhruv Shringi, co-founder & CEO of Yatra.com.

It was founded on the basis of feedback from small and independent hospitality entities and big players alike.

They spoke about how to overcome challenges faced by new entrepreneurs, expanding travel and tourism business to lower tier cities, and to lead the overall hospitality and tourism industry with thought leadership and advocacy.
